I will get the disk unreadable message, but when i go and try and reinstall it, it wont let me get to the screen with that option. The error message happens before the reinstall menu. Any ideas how to get passed this?
INSTALL? Is it unreadable you PLAY it? Or when you install it... Becuase it probably has a few sectors scratched that only affect like...1 level or somethign and you havent noticed, but when you INSTALL it, it has to have everything correct.
If i were you and it STILL WORKS NORMALLY, just playing it, don't install it.
Installing games on the 360 gives a very small performance boost. Not really too worth it, especially if you cant even get it to work.

If it is a certain disk that your Playstation wont read then its more then likely your disk is corrupt or unreadable. Perhaps its time to buy a new disk?
If your problem is that most or ALL your disks are unreadable then im sure the problem is to do with the playstation itself. (Proberly the lens again.) Contact Sony on their freephone and explain the problem to them. The default warranty is 1 years free cover. If you've had your playstation under a year then Sony will happily replace your console for free. Usually takes 2-3 working days.
Hope this helps!
Hello, ive had this problem too and when i played online certain maps wouldnt play, first thing i did was to take it to a local game store and they can try to fix the disk for around £5, for me this worked but if not i am sorry to tell you that the game will be very hard to fix as the more its played the worse it will get.
hope this helps
Good Luck, if you need more help just send me a message back
buy a cheap lens cleaner (the wet type) and try this.
I had same problem and this cured it also carefully hoover the tray and aim the hoover pipe inside the tray being very carefull not to shove it in to get rid of as much dust as possible if all else fails your looking at a new lens
is this the red ring of death
Because if it is i have a non-permanent solution it will work for a about a month all you have to do is wrap some towels around it and wait 20 mins and that should fix it for a while
I had this problem.
If your disc is not damaged, then the most likely problem is the FFXI data has been corrupted.
This can happen if you improperly exit FFXI or the POL viewer, such as just turning off the console, or your console freezes.
Since the FFXI data is not displayed on the Memory section in the dashboard, and you cannot load the disc to reinstal from the POL viewer, you must reformat the HDD through the memory section of the dashboard.
Make sure to back up all other game data onto another storage device, as reformatting will delete everything.
Could be a damaged disk (check closely), a bad disk (did it work before) or your lens could be going out (which makes it unable to read the disk). Have you tried putting another disk in to see if you get the same problem?
It might be a problem with the disc itself. Try conventional disc cleaners and repairs. If those don't work, replace the game. If it still doesn't work, then you might need to send the console back to get it repaired. If you're still under warranty.
