Question about Samsung DynaFlat TX-P3071WH 30" TV

1 Answer

Interesting problem Previously this TV would turn off after running for sometime. No sound not picture. I looked in and visibly found that the capacitor after mains rectifier was kind of bulged out. Replaced with a new one (820microFarad/250V) and then turned it on. It did not. But then pushed main board up a little and it started up. Left it running for a few hours, it did not turn off (like it was previously). But when I tried to turn on after some time, it does not turn on. Any ideas??

Re: Interesting problem

It sounds as if you have a cold solder joint. I would check for bad solder joint(s) around the flyback transformer as this can be a common problem in some televisons.

Stand by Light flashing; no pic no sound

had same problem - How old is TV? Sony authorized repair will only address certain sets that are less than 5 yrs, I think. Basically though sometimes only needs adjustment, sometimes new mainboard depending on the humber of blinks that are repeating. Count the # of blinks in a cycle then look up "sony blink codes" for a general idea of what it might be. You may also get some good expert advice if you video tape the blinking and post it along with your model #. Some have found that bad or leaky/bulging capacitors are the culprit, while others have needed replacement IC's, sometimes it is the CRT going bad if it has had long hours and can be fixed by turning up the focus screw inside just a hair to eke a little more life out of it (This is often prefaced by longer warmup and sound but no picture or blanking intermittently). Almost all answers I have found though end up pointing to call a repairman... There is an angry petition thread of hundreds of po'd folks out there too if you wanna sign... I did. And my next tv will be a Samsung....

Phillips 29" TV

Sounds like it has an intermittant connection somewhere which is very common now a days due to the lead-free solder all the makers went to. Resolder everything that looks suspicious, especially the bigger components. It could also be a failure of the flyback transformer though which often times fail like this.
Hope Ya Fix It.

Picture and sound problem at 21" sony waga color tv

This is due to problem in deflection area and power supply section malfunction. Make one general service by technical person immediately to avoid major transformer failure problem. Since this is initial stage, the cost of repair is probably less.

No picture

I would pull the cover off to see if the tube and the board on the CRT are not damaged. If it looks ok, turn set on and observe if there is any activity visible at the neck of the CRT (light). Wehn a set with a large tube starts-up, it wil make a fuzzt crackle noise fro the high voltage charge in the tube. If non of this is happening, check main board for cracks. Unit is probably salvageable for point to point solder job, but as far aspart replacement for HV power supply, I would not do it. It is not cost effective.

Sounds like the picture tube has got itself magnetised. Can be caused by a external magnetic field, maybe the set is too close to a central heating radiator, or you've got too near the set with a vacuum cleaner. Usual cause is a dry jointed degauss element in the TV, should be visible after you've removed the circuit board and had a close look underneath. Just scrape the pins, sometimes two, sometimes three and resolder them to the board. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS YOURSELF IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH TELEVISIONS AND THE ELECTRIC CHARGE THEY HOLD FOR AGES EVEN IF THEY ARE ISOLATED FROM THE MAINS!!

Bottom of picture is not all the way visible.

you need to adjust the vertical setting on your tv set. are you a tech person? if you are just follow these instructions. turn the tv off and unplug it. take the back of the tv off. you will find the screen and the crt tube. on the tube, you will find the yoke of the screen follow the four wires coming down to the board. you will find small knobs. you will find writing next to these knobs. look for vertical phase. once you find it. now you have to plug the tv and do this live. be carefull. once you see the picture on the screen. adjust this knob till you see the bottom. good luck

TV solution

You may have a bad solder joint on the horizontal driver transformer or somewhere else in the set. I found this problem with this transformer several times. Stargazer
