there is also a tool, it is used with an electric drill. the shaft fits into the drill chuck and the plate mounted on the shaft is graduated in the correct pitch for sharpening the teeth. you just place the file end on the tooth, orient the plate to align with the chain bar & start the drill on load speed for 5 to 10 seconds, per tooth. The tooth is sharp and clean. I live in australia and get these tools at a hardware store called bunnings. E-mail: jam1@nw.com.au, if you still need help

You can find many useful videos on youtube that will help you with the sharpening of your chainsaw.

Below is a video from donnyboy73.

I have, however, found it much better to take my chains to my local shop and have them do it for me, especially if you have never done it before.
The key to a good cutting chainsaw, is a nice sharp chain.
It doesnt cost all that much to have them sharpened. I paid 8 dollars to have 2, 18 inch chains sharpened. I live in Pennsylvania, land of the tax, so I wouldn't think it would cost you too much.
I always have 4 chains on hand. When 2 need sharpened, I take them in and still have 2 more, and I know they are guaranteed, sharp.

Replace chain

Do you know that chains can be resharpened? I suggest you find a shop that services chain saws and have it sharpened. If you want to replace the chain a good shop can get you one or make one.

I need to know the file size to sharpen a Poulan 1420 electric chainsaw.

If it has 3/8 low profile chain as most machines do it will be a 5/32 file.

Cuts at an angle

It cuts at an angle because the chain needs sharpening. If you want to do it yourself, you will need a 5/32 inch chainsaw file and here is a website that shows how to sharpen it...

Dissasembly of a poulan 1625 chain saw

I think this IPL (exploded parts list) will provide all the help you need.
1625 Electric Saw Type 2
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/PWE/1625-Electric-Saw-Type-2/75.1625-Electric-Saw-Type-2.1.59.1.html

There is also a Type 1 here:
Poulan.com
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/POULAN-WEED-EATER/75.59.html
The dash number of your serial number is the type.

It looks like only 1 screw holds the motor in the case after removing 2 layers to find it.

If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. Good Luck. HTH

I need to find the nylon gear that is fused to the steel gear that drives the chain 1625 elec.poulan chainsaw. part name, number and picture.

An IPL for a Poulan 1625 (type 1) can be found here:
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/PWE/1625-Electric-Saw-Type-1/75.1625-Electric-Saw-Type-1.1.59.1.html
Click the green "Go" tab; Expand the "Illustrated Parts Lists";Click the "Chain Saw Assembly Type 1".
I think you want item 7 ($10.32 & shipping). The nut probably has a left handed thread (tighten it to loosen it). Please let us know if this helped.

European power is at 50 CPS too. I wouldn't! It will run at half power, it may overheat, probably not safe. How much value do you place on your life? A new chainsaw (built for 110VAC) is pretty cheap insurance.
