    Hiya rebelyes!
You are not going to believe what I just found out! I had already done exactly that.. I spent all day yesterday uninstalling any and everything to do with either the trial version and the purchased version. (yes i still had the disc and authentication key) I even went online to trial another version but the same thing still kept happening.
Then out of sheer frustration I kept reading a blog about changing some of the registry key values, eg Data to olddata and Addins to oldAddins etc. Still didn't work.
Finally an absolute miracle happened and I kept reading where some teeny tiny post on the same web blog page had said, its nothing to do with registry or corrupt files or anything. Its your printer. Check to see which printer is being used at the time you open up your documents. And bingo! I have a scrapbooking company and have a tiny portable printer that I take to the classes that I teach. It only prints 2" pictures, and therefore was not being recognised by the Office program.
OMG what a drama... 11 hours of torture but a lesson well learned.
Thanks so much for your kindness in answering my question. Please note that one down so others may benefit from it too.
    cheers,
    tracey

Hi,

Laptops that have pre-installed Microsoft Office in it usually have 60-day trial version or Microsoft Office starter. The trial version may be a Home edition and has the full features but will ask for a product key after the trial period expires. The MS Office Starter only has limited features for MS Word and Excel only, but this is not a trial version.

If you want to continue using the trial MS Office or want the full functionality of MS Word and MS Excel plus MS powerpoint etc, you need to follow the steps provided to activate or purchase a product key from the application itself. You need to purchase the product key from Microsoft since this program is unfortunately not free.

Hope this helps.

Okay i bought an acer laptop and it has microsoft word on it. But after so many tries you have to enter the product key. I did this which is located under my computer. I typed it in but it keeps saying...

That's is not the key they are asking for.

They are asking for the product key that you receive once you pay for the full version. I assume that you have a trial period. Did you see where it says 'obtain product key'? You will need to purchase the full version (the key) to unlock this program and all of it's features..

Alternatively, if you are looking for a free reputable program that is exactly like Word, try www.openoffice.org. It is a program that I use every day. It operates almost 99% just like Word. They also have the other applications such as an excel program and even a powerpoint application.

You will love it if you do not wish to purchase the key.

Do you have a formula in Microsoft Excel that a value can convert to a word...(Ex. 15,000 then it will convert to in words fifteen Thousand..)thanks. need immediate reply.

Hi enelrah_mel0,

You can create a function called SpellNumber using the Visual Basic Editor in the Microsoft Excel to spell the number.

  1. Please Open Microsoft Excel. Then press Alt + F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor.
  2. Then, click "Insert" option above the Visual Basic Editor window and select "Module".
  3. Then, in the Book1 Module1 (Code) window, paste the below code there. (pasted in the next post separately for your convenience)
  4. Then, press Alt+Q to close the Visual Basic Editor window.
  5. After that, please type the formula " =SpellNumber( * )" in the Excel Sheet and press the Enter Key.
  6. Then, save the Excel Sheet.
eg: =SpellNumber(A1)

Where A1 is the first cell in the excel sheet.

Good Luck!

Please post back the result and let me know if you require further assistance.

Thanks for using Fixya.

I purchased microsoft office version 2003 after downloading a trial version. the purchased copy unlocked word, outlook, publisher and excel but not powerpoint, which is what I really need for a homework...

Powerpoint is not in the 'basic' version of Microsoft Office 2003. All other versions should include Powerpoint.

If you really need it now and you can't solve it, you may download OpenOffice at openoffice.org . This contains the program 'Impress', with which you can make Powerpoint presentations. OpenOffice is free, because it's Open Source software.

Windows Vista Problem

To Update Windows Vista you need to use Windows Update which is located in the control panel. Once you have open windows update click Check for updates and then click view option updates. You should then see Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 1 in the list. Download and install this Service Pack and see if this correct the problem

PRODUCT KEY 25 CHARACTER 2007 HELP

Unfortunately, these are trial versions that come pre-installed with Windows. You do not have the software because the full version was not included in your purchase.
Good news, though. The 2007 Student & Teacher (academic) version, which includes Excel, Powerpoint, and Word, is only $79 at newegg.com and it has free shipping.
