Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Home Basic Edition
I am hoping you can he. I purchased a laptop that had Windows Vista Home Basic installed on it. After the trial period I installed the Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 software pack that I purchased at the same time as I purchased the laptop. For a little while it seemed okay. Now, anytime I try to open any Micreosoft office utility such as windows, excel, powerpoint etc, it says that ..."Microsift Office Word has stopped working. A problem to stop working properly."... then it says windows will try to find a solution and notify me when it does. Withing seconds a box appears with the following: ..."This problem was caused by Microsoft Office system software, which was created by Microsoft Corporation.".... so far I think I am getting somewhere! So I read down further: ...Recommendation
A cumulative update is available for your Microsoft Office system product that fixes many of the problems customers have reported to us, and it might address this problem.
Important: To get available updates for your Microsoft Office system product, you need to use Microsoft Update (a service available within Windows Update). If you don't have Microsoft Update installed, you'll need to install it before you can download updates for Microsoft Office.
Click to open Microsoft Update
Windows Update will open if you already have Microsoft Update installed.
And here lies another problem... when i click on the Microsoft Update to open it, my computer tells me:
..."windows cannot find http://www.update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/vistadefault.aspx?In=en-us
so I am in the exact same position I was in at the beginning!
I amm running a little Etsy store and need at least Woed to work... can you help me? My product key was accepted on installation of the software, but when I looked at my product key on my proprties of the computer, its a different key, and I tried to change it to what the software pack has on it, and it did not recognise it as a valis Vista software key... bizzare!
thanks for your time and I hope i have given you enough information.

To Update Windows Vista you need to use Windows Update which is located in the control panel. Once you have open windows update click Check for updates and then click view option updates. You should then see Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 1 in the list. Download and install this Service Pack and see if this correct the problem
