I will not talk about the setting on the computer because you know.
If your computer goes to sleeping mode you have to press the power button once and short.
If your monitor goes to sleeping mode and your computer is on you can press a mouse button and a key like the ESCAPE key.
What is usually do is first.
press a mouse button, then the escape key then turn of monitor and turn on. Whit each step i wait until is see a screen. If this all is not working i think you have a problem with the resolution you have set in windows. In this case you have to reboot your computer to safe mode, change your display to a low resolution, reboot and in windows you can change your setting again. Always test your setting before you apply.

Your computer monitor or laptop screen will enter sleep mode after your computer remains idle for a set period of time. You can disable sleep mode if you prefer the screen to remain illuminated. You merely need to change a setting in the Windows Power Management properties box.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy Instructions
Click "Start" and "Control Panel".
Click "System and Security" and "Power Options". This will bring up a new dialog box.
Click the menus to the right of "Turn off the Display" and set them both to "Never". This will disable sleep mode.
