Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have a Maytag Topmount Refrigerator purchased in November, 1990. The outer walls and the top of the freezer are very hot to the touch. The items on the freezer door are melting due to the hear? The refrigerator seems to be cooling fine. What do you think the problem is?

Sounds like the defrost heater may be staying on. The problem could be the heater itself or the defrost timer you need a complete model number from the refrigerator to get the parts sometimes Maytag products require serial number to order parts as well. Good Luck..

How do i replace the heater on a maytag RSW22E0D side by side?

Place all frozen items that are inside the freezer now into a ice chest. Unplug the power cord from wall receptacle that goes to the refrigerator. Place a few towels inside the bottom section of freezer to absorb any water that overflows the freezer floor during manual defrost. Place a bucket of very hot water inside the freezer and close the doors. Give the freezer time to warm up and melt the ice behind the rear wall of the freezer. Maytag refrigerator / freezer compressor fan not running and some items in freezer appear to be thawing

Check to see if the fan mount bent somehow. The fan blade just might be jammed. If not see if the fan is getting power. The unit will not cool properly if the compressor and condenser are not being cooled down by that fan.

The center bar between the freezer and refrigerator is very hot to the touch. Also about halfway down on the freezer size is also very hot. The ice cubes also seem to be smaller

Heat is normal but the freezer may not be clod enough. Check temp in freezer(0 deg F or -18 C. Also check rear wall of freezer for frost . If so you have a defrost problem which will raise the temp in the freezer. Also check that the condenser fan in the rear bottom of the fridge is running and the condenser is clear,

We have an Admiral top freezer refrigerator. Freezer is working refrigerator is running at 60 degrees.

If there is no ice on the back wall of the freezer, make sure the freezer fan motor is running. If there is ice on the back wall of the freezer repair the defrost components. Timer, heater, thermostat.

Both the Freezer and the Refridgerator quit working...

Do you have ice build up on the back wall in the freezer? If so you have whats called a defrost problem. (can be timmer, adc, heating element or thermostat)... All cold air in you fridge side come from the freezer, therefore if you have ice build up behind back wall in freezer it is blocking air flow....
