Screen is blue on all components and no Menu options show up. I just had it taken to the repair shop..he thinks it's probably a panel that needs replacing. Could be $300 to $500 repair. Should have gotten the extended warranty. These TV's are not made to last!!!! The TV was $3,000...OUCH!!

I don't know how to email you :( Couldn't see an address.

Thanks so much for the info...it's already in the shop and we are just hoping for the best...hope we aren't throwing more money away!!! I'm waiting for the estimate, and maybe we should just buy a cheap TV instead of getting this one fixed, since they don't last very long!! Let me know if you know of a cheap TV brand that will still give a decent picture. I'm just sorry we got rid of our CRT Pioneer Elite...should have just gotten it fixed.

    Thanks for your help!!

Yup.... these new sets are throw aways, they intented to fill our land fills. Extented warranty is the way to go. I have determined that plasma is the way to go because the display is less prone to failure. LCD panels are prone to scratches, heat, cold, excessive pressure and back light failures. Although plasma are made of glass and can crack I feel they are more durable.

About your set. if you are a tech try this.... use caution.

    Unplug set.

    Remove back.

With set on stand and circuit board exposed.

Get a can of can air, turn it upside down this will spray a liquid instead of air.

Spray a circuit board until it's very cold.

Plug the set to a outlet and turn it on and see if there is picture change.

Do this to other boards, REMEMBER to UNPLUG set from outlet before spraying boards.

DO NOT allow spray to touch skin the spray gets down to -100 degrees and will cause frost bite.

You can also try the above using a hair dryer to get the boards to about 110 to 120 degrees.

This may isolate the problem to a board or to a component.

Remember use ths at your own risk.

Our Mitsubishi WD 52525 goes to blue screen and shuts off.

It sounds like you TV is overheating and the video is suffering and the lamp is overheating as well. Also, if your TV is over 2-3 years old, the mirrors (behind and below the big front screen) desperately need to be cleaned. Clean all filters and fans as well. (Look on side and behind the unit). Is the TV in a "hot" environment and/or dirty environment? DLP TV's are NOT sealed units. They need to be cleaned every few years to work well to have a good, clear, bright picture.

TV shuts off and red standby/timer lights blinks red until I power the set off. When it shuts down it does so with a very loud snap. When I turn it back on the screen is blue and has light blue...

The most common cause for what you are seeing is a shorted gun in the picture tube. When 2 elements (heater and cathode) of one of the guns inside the neck of the picture tube touch, that gun goes full on and overloads the flyback (high voltage) transformer. If it is in the blue gun, the screen will go bright blue with light blue "retrace" lines in it. The computer senses the overload and shuts the set off. At 2 years old the tech most likely tried removing the short by arcing between the elements. This works sometimes but the short often comes back a few months later. Another attempt at removing the short could be tried, and it might work this time, but it may or may not work for long. The ony other solution is to replace the picture tube but that would cost much more than the set is worth. A qualified tech will be able to tell you if this is the problem in your set.

Tv has sound but no picture

Sounds like you have lost video somewhere in the video circuits. Possibly the picture tube could have gone bad or lost filiament voltage. You can check to see if you have high voltage by holding your bare arm close to the screen. The hairs will stand up if you have high voltage. Absence of high voltage will also cause a black screen, but the sound might not work either since on some sets the power for the sound is supplied from the same circuit as the high voltage. Stargazer
