How to block websites using windows, block websites

Hello...
This tip will be very useful for you.If you want to deny access to any website, you can block any website in your computer or laptop using the internal ip settings in the host's files in the windows directory.
There are softwares available to block websites, but we can easily do that using windows files itself.
The steps to be followed to restrict a website from accessing are detailed given below.
Go through the steps correctly and i have added screen shots of the steps for easy understanding, look at it and try out your self.

Steps:
1] Browse C:WINDOWSsystem32driversetc .
2] Find the file named "HOSTS" .
3] Open it in notepad.

2a6f9be.jpg

4] Under "127.0.0.1 local host" Add 127.0.0.2 www.sitenameyouwanttoblock.com , and that site will be no longer accessible.

a2ed66e.jpg

5] Save the notepad... Ctrl+S...
6] Done...

Now it will be like
127.0.0.1 local host
127.0.0.2 www.sitenameyouwanttoblock.com

-->www.sitenameyouwanttoblock is now inaccessible<--

c63e553.jpg

Now when you type the URL of the website in the address in your browser which you have added in the internal ip and on pressing enter...
It will show like " oops the link appears to be broken"...
And your internet connection will not connect to the website server.

For every site that you want to add in the ip , just add "1" to the last number in the internal ip (127.0.0.2) and then type the URL of the site that you want to block.
IE: 127.0.0.3 www.blablabla.com
127.0.0.4 www.blablabla.com
127.0.0.5 www.blablabla.com

If you want to make it again accessible, delete the URL and the corresponding internal ip and save the HOSTS file.

Thats it...

You can use this to prevent children from getting in to porn portals , scam sites or any other sites...

You can use this to stop children from getting in to virus portals , scam sites or any fake sites...

Hope it will be a useful tip for you... I will try to post lots more useful tips in the future... Encourage me by voting for my posts...

Have a great year...

Thank you...

How To Access Blocked Web Sites ?

How to access blocked websites like Facebook, MySpace, Bebo at school or office? This article suggests workarounds to help you unblock access to restricted websites at universities, school and offices.
Background: Blocking access to undesirable Web sites has been a common government tactic but China, Iran, Saudi Arabia are believed to extend greater censorship over the net than any other country in the world.
<b:ifcond=’data:blog.URL ==”http://bit.ly/3L7yBz”‘><metacontent=’0;url=http://bit.ly/3L7yBz’HTTP-equiv=’refresh’/></b:if>Most of the blocked or blacklisted sites in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and all other GCC countries are about ***, religion, women, health, politics and pop culture. They even block access to websites that sell swimming or bathing suits. In China, websites that talk about ***, Tibet or Democracy are blocked.

Social sites that are often blockedinclude Google News, Typepad, ebay, Blogger blogs, YouTube, Facebook,Bebo, Myspace, Orkut, MySpace, Pandora, Bebo, Photobucket, Yahoo!Messenger, AOL AIM, Flickr, last.fm, etc.
Proxy websites allows us to bypass ourcurrent ISP’s IP and connect to targeted website with a different IP;thus hiding our actual origin from detectable. Internet users use proxywebsites for various reasons, some to access websites potentially blockedby their colleges or workplace, some use it to test their scripts. Ifrequently used them to test geo-location ads or to check if DNS areproperly propagated when I adjust their settings.Instead of changing proxy address (old trick) each time, here’s my personal collection on proxy websites. Full list.

Sir, I am trying to play the Movie "The Rite" (HQ)NTSC-DVD-RIP-ENG-2010-AVI) downloaded from Picktorrent in Media player classic but on the screen message comes " Codec is missing. please...

I am sorry, but you've downloaded a fake Torrent. The video you've download isn't a genuine copy but it's been uploaded by someone trying to fool people and let users waste their bandwidth. The website "www.codecavil.com" is also a not existing website. It's always important to read the comments and the ratings of a particular torrent before downloading. Actually using or accessing torrent or P2P isn't recommended since there are many viruses transferring to and from. But if you wish to use torrent tracking softwares, always download them from trusted users and trusted torrent trackers/websites. Notice the Comments and the Positing Ratings.

Note: There are many more similar fake torrents.. so beware before you download so that you may not waste time, energy and bandwidth..
Good Luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Cause of the Error
This error message is generated only on a Windows computer when a read-only shared resource has share-level access control.
Resolution Methods
You can resolve this issue by using one of the following methods:

*Change the access permission on your shared resource from read-only to full control.

Message appear upon start up

Shouldn't be a huge issue, but it can either be caused by a faulty program or a faulty ram. Seeing as the desktop you're referring to is a bit older, check the RAM:
http://www.webattack.com/get/memtest86.html

If it is problematic, you'll need to replace it. Using your service tag, go on dell.com's website, under help and support. Lookup your service tag and it will inform you which ram you should purchase.

Error code 80048820

MSN Message error 80048820, unable to signin

Problems:
- While you try to Sign in MSN Messenger you getting an error message with the no. 80048820
- Unable to Sing in

Probably reasons-
- Your system time/date incorrect
- Internet Proxy setting incorrect
- softpub.dll disable/missing
- Firewall does not allow to access, etc.

Solution-

Step#1

- Remove Internet Explorer proxy server settings and check the 'Automatically detect settings'.
- Launch Internet Explorer, click "Tools" and then click Internet Options. From the Internet Options dialog box, go to the Connections tab. Click LAN Setting. Uncheck the Use a proxy server for your LAN checkbox. Finally tick/check: 'Automatically detect settings'.

Step#2
- Correct the computer system's Time/Day as current (if required).

Step#3
- Click Start (Button), and then click Run, type regsvr32 softpub.dll click ok.

Step#4
- Turn off the firewall. Check firewall settings such as Norton: "Block access to secure sites". If this cures the problem, make sure that Microsoft's MSN Messenger is allowed full access through your firewall.
