Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

Menu/screen resolution/contrast box keeps popping up on screen.

Hello! For the past week or so, when my computer is on, no matter what I am working on, the contrast box (one that allows brightness ect.) continues to pop up. This happens without me touching anything, and the "exit," button usually wont make it disappear. Sometimes it flashes on and off a hundred times in a minute. HELP! It is making me crazy and if someone can't help me with this issue, I will have no choice but to contact a Catholic Priest and have an exocism done on my emachine computer! I am going bonkers! If anyone can help this go away, I would be forever in debt! Note, I do not think the button located on the monitor is stuck. It comes and goes, sometimes not flashing for minutes, sometimes it wont go off at all! And it is pops up in the center of the screen, making working on my pc impossible. Thanks!

By what your describing, the board in the monitor that allows you to make changes to the display is going bad (sounds like the settings button). If it were a notebook you might be able to get a board replacement (just an example I know notbooks dont have this feature in the lid). Since it seems that your display is for a desktop, I dont think it would be easy or inexpensive to get a replacement board. You will probably have to get a new monitor. If you want to fix it yourself, pull the monitor apart and get the board out. Try an electronics cleaner and put it back together. If it works, great. If it doesnt, take the board back out and take the board to an electronics (tv) repair shop and see if they can solder in a new button. If that doesnt work your back to buying a new monitor. Hope this helps...

hey people! i figured out whats wrong. all it is....the computer dosent recognize the monitor as a plug and play monitor. if u right click desktop go to settings where u can change resolution and go to advance then monitor u will see that the computer says default monitor which is why the contrast screen keeps popping up. i has to be a registry error or something. i fixed it by restarting and hoping that it didnt do it again.. but i do know it only happens when it says default monitor instead of plug and play.

hey dojih4u2c I followed your instructions and without shutting of the affected monitor, I rebooted. However I still had the same problem, so I shut off the monitor, held the underside first button to the left of the power switch and turned on the monitor while continuing to hold the first button. It displays a menu, then I held the second to the left underside button and let go when it said it was reconfiguring, and VOILA problem solved

My E19T6W 19" LCD monitor has a menu that keeps popping up on the bottom right corner of
my screen. Has been doing this continually since I got it. Changes from the eMachine monitor tour to resolution and contrast menus. I keep turning it off and within seconds it'll be right back. For the most part I just ignore it, but recently it has been driving me insane during movies.

My E19T6W 19" LCD monitor

Sorry, I have no solution, just thought you might like to know that I am having the exact same problem.
The only thing I can add is that it appeared after a night that my computer was set to do a weekly upload of Microsoft, anti-virus and anti-spyware updates. Also, that night we had some electrical storms. The menu pops up in the bottom right corner at very erratic intervals and sometimes just flashes, while other times stays on for minutes. It is driving me crazy!
I have tried updating the monitor driver and the video card using the "Device Manager" icon found in the "Control Panel". No luck. I have also ran anti-virus and anti-spyware scans and also used AVG to scan and fix registry errors. No luck.
I am open to suggestions.

Sounds like the buttons are sticky. Open unit and clean with electronic cleaner. May try spray with unit off.

Menu keeps popping up

Never a good idea to clean with any spray cleaner. The cleaner does get down in the button bar and cause corrosion and shorting along ribbon cable. Use screen wipes for computer monitors only on TV's and any type of monitors. You can remove the back of the case. And remove the button board and clean with a cue tip and alcohol along ribbon cable.
