Hello! For the past week or so, when my computer is on, no matter what I am working on, the contrast box (one that allows brightness ect.) continues to pop up. This happens without me touching anything, and the "exit," button usually wont make it disappear. Sometimes it flashes on and off a hundred times in a minute. HELP! It is making me crazy and if someone can't help me with this issue, I will have no choice but to contact a Catholic Priest and have an exocism done on my emachine computer! I am going bonkers! If anyone can help this go away, I would be forever in debt! Note, I do not think the button located on the monitor is stuck. It comes and goes, sometimes not flashing for minutes, sometimes it wont go off at all! And it is pops up in the center of the screen, making working on my pc impossible. Thanks!

By what your describing, the board in the monitor that allows you to make changes to the display is going bad (sounds like the settings button). If it were a notebook you might be able to get a board replacement (just an example I know notbooks dont have this feature in the lid). Since it seems that your display is for a desktop, I dont think it would be easy or inexpensive to get a replacement board. You will probably have to get a new monitor. If you want to fix it yourself, pull the monitor apart and get the board out. Try an electronics cleaner and put it back together. If it works, great. If it doesnt, take the board back out and take the board to an electronics (tv) repair shop and see if they can solder in a new button. If that doesnt work your back to buying a new monitor. Hope this helps...

I have an Emachine 1161-03, upgraded to 512mb video, 3 gigs ram, windows xp pro, all drivers updated for onboard and cards. All the temperatures are normal (using everesthome edition). I have swapped out video cards and changed video drivers from new to older ones. I have tried user modified drivers for the video cards and nothing works. Everytime i want to play a game like Dark Age of Camelot, WoW or even older games like Sacrifice (which is almost 10 yrs old) I have to reinstall my graphics drivers and the game will run smooth for a few hours and then the graphics slowly start getting choppy, until it just gets so bad my character locks up and the game crashes in the middle of what ever im doing. It's extremely frustrating. The only thing I havnt changed is the power supply. I have an extra 550w that i could replace the 250w thats currently in there now. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
