You should download a wifi card driver and install it from this location:

I just reloaded Windows 7 on my Acer Aspire 7741G, and now it says I have no network controller, or network adapter, how do I get those back on so I can use my WiFi

I have had the exact same problem with my acer aspire. The name of the network adapter in my 7741g was atheros AR5b97 ive found that there were no drivers installed for this device on my computer but through hours of searching i finally found one that works on a website called pc pitstop.

http://www.pcpitstop.com/drivers/download/Atheros~AR5B97~Wireless~Network~Adapter.html

If you select the downlaod for your specific operating system and version, (win 7 x64 for me) they ask for your email and send you the download link. At first i was skeptical thinking it was another sham driveridentifier type application but they did infact send me the correct driver and I now have wifi access! As for the ethernet controller and pci drivers i plan to download them through automatic updates on my laptop, good luck to anyone else who has this problem.

I have an ACER travelmate i am unable to find the LAN after installing the drivers also

If a device doesn't show in device manager, look for it as a "hidden device". These devices usually are detected by the OS, but are not functioning.
Generally, I've found that there is a hardware fault if the typical scenario of uninstalling the driver & reinstalling doesn't work. That's when you see your hardware end up under hidden devices. You'll likely need to replace that hardware. For dead LAN ports on laptops, they do make a USB-to-LAN adapter.
Open device manager>and check the menu bar items>find "other options">show hidden devices. It's usually clustered with the other "views" of showing by IRQ, etc.

My laptop is showing no connections when the ethernet cord is connected and my wifi is not working properly.i have insprion 1510

If before this you dont face this problem, so try rollbakc driver for that adapter. open device manager and go to adapter-> properties . In dirver tab, click roll back driver.

How ever, if you think that not problem from driver, try change other cable.
maybe that cable is damage. try new cable (ETHERNET crossover cable)

Carn't connect wirless

Hello,

The first thing that I would advise you to do is,

Uninstall the WiFi Adapter totally from the System first,

(For WIndows XP)
Right-Click on my computer Icon, Properties-->Hardware-->Device Manager,

select the WiFi Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall

Next, Click on Action on that Same page, and select "scan for hardware changes",

This will bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

(For WIndows Vista/Windows7)
Right-Click on my computer Icon, go to

Properties-->>Device Manager, select the WiFi Adapter under network adapters, and right click on it, then select uninstall

Next, Click on Action on that Same page, and select "scan for hardware changes",

This will also bring up a prompt to install the new hardware found (Which is your Wifi Adapter).

After this, Press your Wifi button on the system and ensure that it is On, then Scan for wireless networks.

It should connect like that.

Try this out and kindly let me know how it goes,

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Goodluck

Network Adapter/Ethernet Controller

Nothing wrong with having two network adapters installed on your computer. If you have this DWA-552 wireless adapter installed as well as an onboard NIC, the correct thing to do is have both drivers installed so you see them both in your Control Panel->Network Connections window.

If you really want the onboard nic to go away, go into device manager and disable it - not uninstall it.

Acer 4315 WLAN driver for WIndows XP

Sorry if I am coming into this early, but I had the same problem with my Acer Extensa 4420. Eventually, after tons of forum threads, I found that the same chip that's in the Acer computers is also in some Dell computers. Just ignore the fact that it says it's by Dell and download this:
http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R174291.EXE

Then, extract the files to a folder and from device manager, and point 'Network Controller' (or whatever your wireless adapter is named in device manager) to that folder.
