Question about Dell E171FPb 17" TFT LCD Flat Panel Monitor
When computer is first turned on vertical lines appear in different shapes either linear or zig-zag columns, then the screen will blotch out into different colors & black & white moving left to right across the screen. Eventually the screen either blanks out completely in black or different shades or sometimes faults to blue screen when in then dumps its physical memory. These are intermittent problems that have progressively gotten worse to the point that it now won't come up at all so the reguslar Windows desktop is visible. Previously this probelm was intermittent and sometimes the computer would clear itself and work properly even though in start-up the above symptoms were displayed for a couple of minutes until they cleared. It seemed to be heat related because it would work fine for an hour or two then fail. Now it's failing imemdiately. HELP!
It sounds to me like you are having a problem with the video card on the motherboard, I am not familiar with this model but some you can remove the video card and upgrade, some you can not.if you can upgrade you can try this
if you cannot remove the video card then a new motherboard will be required to fix this computer.
you can look on ebay for a replacement at a reasonable price or talk to your local computer service center.
hope this helps.
