Question about Dell 1320c Laser Printer
There is paper in the tray. The paper tray is installed properly. Any ideas?
I had the same problem. I removed the paper tray, turned the printer on its side and manually moved all the working parts on the bottom of the printer - rollers and switches..
When I reinserted the paper tray, everything worked fine.
PS. I ordered and returned a new paper tray from Dell, that was not the problem.

I had a Dell 1320c that flashed these three orange LED's: jam/front cover open (crumpled paper), single sheet feeder (upper oval), and error (exclamation mark). The problem was that the single sheet (manual) feeder paper detector lever was jammed in the 'pressed in' position. I pulled it out and moved it back and forth several times until it would stick anymore when I pressed it in. This lever is 1/4 in wide black plastic, and is located under the printer with the tray removed, halfway between the white roller and the front of the printer. I removed the nine inch long part that partly covers this lever and cleaned in there. Also I unscrewed the detector from inside the machine and cleaned that out. This last step is very close to the big belt so I was extremely careful not to damage the belt. I put a sheet of paper on the belt to prevent dust from falling on it.

Had the same problem with the Dell 1320c, it wouldn't recognize that I had paper in the paper tray and wouldn't do anything. I took out the paper tray, turned the printer on its side, fooled around with the things that move underneath and, amazingly, it worked! This is a solution that you won't find on the Dell website, it would be like saying "...then hit the printer with a hammer..." hardly a technical sounding fix, but IT WORKS!
