Kenwood vr606 reciever shutting off subwoofer and centre speaker simultaneously after few minutes/seconds of powering on. WHat's the cause?

The receiver's out put sections are grouped in pairs. Front left and right in one output, rear left and right in second output, and center channel and sub output on the third. Sounds like a semiconductor or semiconductors have gone bad in the center & sub output.

I have a kenwood VR405. I am useing a samsung blu ray and a cox cable box. both components are running directly into the samsung flat screen via HDMI. I am backfeeding digital audio to the VR405 via...

Josh, define the 'backfeeding' of the digital audio from the two HD components into Video 1. Those are ANALOG inputs on the VR405. You have two coaxial- and one optical-digital audio input you could/should be using.

I'm surprised you're getting ANY audio (much less digital audio) from the BD and Cable Boxes unless you also have an analog audio path coming in from (what?) the TV.

No sound output from Center and Surround speakers

the only time the center and surround speakers put out sound is when it has a surround sound source such as a dvd etc. and only certain sounds come from them as well.

Reciever only allows 2 channels(speakers) at a time.

If the amplifier is not receiving a surround sound signal, you will get nothing from the rear speakers and probably nothing from the front centre. Play a dvd in dolby surround and it will work.

No sound coming out of Center, left and right front speakers

make sure you didnt turn off speaker set A on the reciever. cause from what i can tell from the manual you may have hit a button to turn them off. now on your reciever look below the power button on the unit itself. below that is a speaker A/B push the A button to make sure its on or the B depending how your speakers are rigged. if this isnt the problem let me know and i can help you with another solution -Nate

Speakers inop. on kenwood reciever

The speaker protection circuit sounds to be engaged. This protects you speakers form damage if a fault condition occurs inside the amp. Generally speaking, unless you have good experience at fault finding electronics, then this may be a job for a repair guy. If you want to know more about diagnosing the problem, get back to me here. Good luck :)

Center and surround speakers work, but front right and front left speakers do not put out any sound

I had the same problem. Set the reciever on 6 channel stereo. On this setting, you should be getting the same sound out of each speaker. Isolate which speakers aren't getting sound. Now, on your speaker switch (the A/B button), select A. If that doesn't fix it, select B. If that doesn't fix it, try A and B (if you can on your reciever).

Now, when you switch back to pro-logic, make sure your a/b channel switch is in the position that worked in 6 channel stereo. Yamaha recievers have a memory, and when you switch various modes, it makes auto adjustments based on what you had set in the past.

Hope this helps
