Question about HTC Shadow Smartphone

1 Answer

HTC Shadow II I just purchased this phone used but i got a brand new battery for it. Its been charging for over 30 minutes but it will not power even for a short few seconds. It seems to be dead except for the flashng LED amber light. When i unplug the AC charger, the LED light flashes red for a second and disappears. I read the manual and the Red light means its under 10% power, and the Flashing Amber light indicates it wont charged due to temperature being below 32 F or 114 F. which of course is impossible. I made sure the AC Charged is an HTC 100-200v charger, which should match the phone. I'm not sure if I got suckered into a broken phone or if I am doing something wrong. Can you advise? Thank you.

I'm afraid that you most likely have been suckered, my friend.  Look on the back of the phone. If the little round sticker (about the size of a pencil eraser) is red, the phone has liquid damage and is most likely causing the battery not to take charge.  If it is still white, then you may have a chance at having the phone replaced by your service provider but the person you purchased the device from will have to place the exchange for you.  Is this also a new charger?  Could be the USB port.....  Good luck!

The htc handsets all come with software that allow you to connect to the computer, it will interface with Windows. The physical connection is the USB on your PC to the Mini USB on the phone. This HTC come with this lead (your probably using to charge the unit).

Once connect you can download all sorts of things.

Hope this helps

Hi. You need to replace the digitizer. This happens to many touch screen phones from all brands.
you can purchase from:
http://cgi.ebay.com/US-NEW-HTC-TyTN-II-TILT-8925-TOUCH-SCREEN-PAD-DIGITIZER-/350435156469?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51979021f5

After purchasing you can have it replaced in a cell repair shop or similar shop. Or you can chose to replace it yourself.

Thank you for using fixya.

Please test the voltage at the battery terminals of the phone with the battery removed. If voltage is present the battery must have developed reverse polarity and will not charge as a cell in blocked.
so replace battery but if there is no voltage the adapter is faulty.

Can't read sim card

Have you used this SIM card in another phone?

Some cell phones have trouble reading SIM cards that have been used in other phones. (Example: The Samsung Jack may not be able to read a SIM card that has been used in a previous Samsung BlackJack model.) I run in to this problem almost daily with my customers.

Your HTC phone probably has the same problem. To correct it, you'll need to purchase a new SIM card (you can get one on eBay for the least amount of money) and contact your cellular provider. Tell them you have a defective SIM - that you purchased a new SIM card and you need your account switched to the new SIM card.

After you give them your new SIM card number, it will take about 15 seconds and the new SIM will be ready to use in your HTC TyTN.

Hi you seem to either corrupted the storage card of the flash memory. In either case you have to remove the battery physically for 1 minute and try again.

Its very hard to pinpoint the problem from your few descriptions. However since the light came on it mostly means the charger should be okay. As for the phone, if the battery is really dead, it sometime takes up to 30 minutes before it shows that it is charging. SO leave it plugged in for some time to see what happenes. If it did not come on after that then the phone is bad. Just to make eveything sure, you can also try any other MINI USB charger or a simple MINI USB cord to the computer to charge the phone with as well. They all work on the Blackberry

Battery shows fully charged, stays on for 3 minutes and freezes.

I've had this happen. Try a soft reset, if that doesn't fix it - try a hard reset. If it still does this, you will need to replace the battery. It may either be a problem with the battery itself or the power regulation circuit that is built into the battery. Either way, replace the battery and it should fix it. Word of warning though, some aftermarket chargers actually reverse-charge the battery - I had a USB charge/data cradle that did this and I still have short-lived battery life on my new E2 battery if I use that cradle. I just stopped using it because it kills my E2.

My HTC Shadow won't turn on

Will the phone even indicate that it is taking a charge when it is plugged in?  If not, the phone is out of commission and then you will need to file a claim with Asurion if you have the Premium Handset Protection that they offer with most service providers.  The deductible would be about $110.00.  Or you could wait and just purchase the Shadow II on January 28th when T-Mobile releases it.  Good luck!

HTC S710 - Battery issue

Hi,
it could be either battery or charger, If the charger isn't supplying enough power it will fool the phone..
some 3rd party batteries and cheapo chargers can cause all sorts of problems like this.
best way to test is charge your phone by usb, it takes longer but will give you some idea of weather its the battery or charger.
Make sure that the box at the bottom of the power management window (dont charge by usb) is set to off. Also for best results remove any other usb devices from the computer this will leave more power for the phone.

Best of luck

I'm looking for parts for a HTC Shadow. One part in particular

You have cut the main ribbon cable coming from the keypad assembly to the motherboard . The simplest thing is to look for a broken phone with the same color and just swap the keypad assembly . You may have to change out the lcd if the one from the broken phone is cracked .
