Question about LG RH1999H DVD Recorder/HDD Recorder
I had the inverse problem on my unit - 7 months after I bought it brand new it wouldn't read DVD's, but would read CD's no problem -- I bought a replacement loader from LG, swopped them out myself and now works 100%.
Turned out the laser for reading DVD's had gone - they use different lasers or wavelengths or something... :)

Working at the LG authorised repair shop , i found that 99% of cases where this problem was found it needed the laser ***'y or dvd loader replaced(loader is easier cheaper and replaces everything not just laser.) .otherwise u can open the unit and CAREFULLY clean the laser inside the dvd loader with a CLEAN cotton tip. the part number for the loader should be on the units dvd loader, look for a white or yellow sticker.hope it helps.
