I've had my camera for about the same time and it just did the same to me. Worked fine for the past 3 years and BAM one day just decides it doesn't want to turn on. I've changed the batteries with every kind you could imagine, cleaned the battery sensors, and door latches..pretty much fussed with every piece on it. Really upset, loved it as an everyday camera. Anyone taken it to see if it could be repaired?

Same problem: I've had the camera for a few months over 2 years and today it didn't come on. I figured the batteries were dead (though they had just been changed and worked fine) and after changing them the camera still didn't work.

There are no lights, no power. I used it yesterday and was able to successfully connect to the computer and everything. I was unsure if this was somehow related to my not removing the USB cord after disconnecting from the computer; but I disconnected it before trying to turn on the camera and take photos.

If there is a reset for this camera with the backup battery or something, I wonder how it is we remove this battery and where it's located.

Okay, there's an internal, rechargable battery behind the LCD screen. It's easy to get, just remove the two screws on the screen near where it attaches to the body and carefully remove the back of the screen. The battery is right there (Model # MS624S w/the (+) side up).

You might be able to find a replacement battery at a local watch/drug/electronics store. If not you can order one online from digikey or mouser electrons for $1.50 + $6.00 shipping (if anyone has a cheaper source, please let me know).

Hopefully that should fix your problem.

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't power on. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try:

I don't know of any company that continues to produce a camera for three years. Nine months is the average and then they move on to new models. If you find this camera, it will be used and you take a chance that it will not function. There are plenty of small cameras with brand new features that will suit you.

I just purchase the Canon Power shot SX 130. Batteries are new and after a few days the camera batery light is flashing and I can't take any pictures the camera shot down. Please help.

Buy a proper NiMH rechargeable batteries (Sanyo Eneloop for example). Modern cameras will drain alkaline batteries in the matter of hours, not days.

I have a Canon Power Shot. I turn it on and then

Try a different battery anyway. I had the same problem with a Kodak a couple years ago. I put in a new battery and it started working fine.

My Canon power shot S2 IS does not detect the batteries

There is a battery charge level sensor in the DC/DC internal converter board.

It seems that just started to fail such board.

You can try with other brand or type of AA batteries.

If still you have the same problem, you will need to have replaced the DC/DC converter board on your camera. This means a Camera repair shop service on it.

Vidoe option on camera used to work, but now: 640(fine) is not available

Hi

I think to work on 640 fine you need a much higher memory stick, I use a 2gb in mine and it is fine (that is when the camera works) .You get 24 minutes or more on the 2gb stick and that is at 640 fine.

Canon A95 "Change Batteries" problem!

I have this problem as well. I thought it was a problem with my NiMH batteries. So, I bought a volt meter to make sure the batteries worked. I have 8 AA NiMH batteries. I charged them all up and tested them with the volt meter. They were all good to go. However, no matter what I put in the camera one of two things happens:
1. I get the "change batteries" message.
2. I don't get the message, but the next time I check the camera (a few days later), one of them is totally drained.
Something is very wrong and I plan on contacting Canon.

It is the setting on your camera ,if you set at (2592x1944) superfine ,you were only can take 11 picture. So if you want to take more pictures ,try set to lower resolution.
