Canon MP780 Printer Problem

Our Canon MP780 is about 3 years old. It started not printing in black but would print in just a few colors. We have tried lots of solutions like changing cartriges and cleaning it. My printer does not print in black--only color.

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

My canon PIMXA MP780 is not printing from the large Black

The black is the first to wear out on these printheads, you will need a new printhead, QY6-0049-000.
You will only waste inks trying to clean or deep clean, the best bet is to replace the printhead and if all else is ok you will get many more trouble free prints and better quality color prints.

Blurry Scanning/Copying

Are you scanning both black and white and color the same way? The ADF (automatic document feeder) uses a different scanning area than when you place the document on the scanning glass. If you open the scanner cover, look to the left of the main scanner glass to the narrow strip used for the ADF. Make sure this narrow strip is clean -- no ink or white-out or scratches. This can make your copies look dirty or smudged.

Black ink won't print (3e)

Try a "hard restart", which simply means unplugging the power cord and replugging it after a few seconds have passed. If that does not work, then rerun the CD you used when you originally installed the printer. Both techniques reprogram the printer to certain extent. Hope one of these methods works for you.

Canon Pixma MP780 "Wrong Cartridge" Error Message

I have two Pixma 780's. After getting the "wrong cartridge" error one day when I turned it on, (I knew it was the right cartridge) I tried switching ink tanks, and the print head cartridge several times between the two printers. the problem followed the black print head cartridge, so I am guessing I need a new one. From that experience, I would recomend swithing the print cartridge if you get this error. Does anyone know how to do a reset on this machine? A Canon tech told me once, but I lost the info.

Big Black not printing

Sounds to me your print head is plugged up. This is not usual though because the majority of people use black ink much more. So, in your printer utility, do a deep cleaning. If that does not work, there is a thing called a purge unit in it. This is a usual way of draining waste ink to a pad that soaks it up. if the hose, or other parts are clogged, it backs the ink up and causes the print head to clog. If this is the start of it, do not waste your ink cleaning, and try not to let it sit too long. Contact canon, and let them kno what you think it is.
