Tv will not recognize channels to save, goes to black screen
Have a av-30ww776 tv, remote died, went to local appliance store and they gave me another jvc remote that they thought might work. It does turn the tv on, but it will not save or go through the channels to save. It just goes to a black screen after I chose to auto program channels. My tv guy told me that I might need the exact remote...think so?

Hi there. Connect the player by means of a SCART cable.
When you activate the DVD, the TV recognises this and goes automatically into AV mode. About the scart cable: take a fully wired type. Then pin 8 is at least connected. This status pin makes the TV switch to AV mode. (toggles between 0 and 12V)
In some cases, it's only possible to connect the signals by means of RCA connectors. (red, black, yellow). Then it's more complicated.
You have to use the local "channel" buttons on your TV. Press the (-) button a number of times until you reach channels below 1. That's were AV inputs are active. Good luck.
While ur TV is connected to d AV device which must also be on, run a frequency scan and all available channels including ur AV channel will be detected and saved. After d scan, u can manually change channels to ur AV choice.
the black rectangle appears as soon as the channel indicator goes off. someone has turned on the closed captioning in the menu of the set. it is in the "text" mode. go into the menu and turn off the closed caption feature.
The problem with the black box happened to me. I had pushed the subtitle button on my remote by mistake. Interestingly enough, as soon as I pushed the SUBTITLE key again, on the remote, the black boxes disappeared.
It also says CC which means closed captioned-- So the bottom on my remote is Subtitle, and then on the subtitle button is cc...
The black box is there because your closed captioning is on and set to text mode. Some channels send the signal even when there is no actual text to display. You can get rid of it by either turning off closed captioning or changing it to CC1 or CC2 mode instead of text. If you can't find those settings, then restore factory settings as directed in your user manual.
hey all I just solved my problem dropped in at a local pawn shop saw 2 tv's just like mine and I asked about a remote he did not have the original for either but he sells uiniversal remotes just for that situation so any universal that has the input button will work takes you to the game channel he showed me 2 both worked but he wanted $10 a piece so I went to the local Dollar Store bought one for $5 that has the input and done the code search and it WORKS LIKE A CHARM hope this info helps someone
The only way your going to change the video mode is with the original remote. If you need another remote go to http://remotes.com or call 1800 remotes Theres a button on the upper left hand side of the remote called video mode. A universal most of the time will not work this function. You could ask around to your friends and buddies or relitives if anyone has a working Sanyo remote or go to a local retailer that sells Sanyo and see if he would let you borrow one for a little while so you can switch out of the video mode. Good Luck
