Need installation CD - mine was broken in shipment.
First I called a few minutes ago, but I was unable to understand the person I was speaking to whom I was speaking. I think her name was Jeanie. I was disconnected on the phone.I have a very simple problem:I received my HP Deskjet F4280 this past Wed. (1/7/09) from Best Buy. Everything looks okay except the CD is broken. I just need a new one. It reads on the front:HP Deskjet 4200 series.

Like any hardware, you will need the software "driver" that makes the camera work on your pc. If you have a software disk, there is probably a manual or set of instructions on the disk.
Usually you put the CD in your CD drive and it may well start by itself. If not, look for the "set up" icon, if you don't see that, look for a driver folder. The drivers should be organized by operating system.
Install the driver, or copy the driver to a location you can easily find on your hard drive, like you 'my documents' folder. Then restart your computer and plug in your camera. If the camera does not automatically find the driver, you may have to follow some prompts to point it to the driver you copied to your hard drive.
This does not cover every possibility that you may encounter, but it covers most that situations that I have experienced when installing hardware.
i had that same problem with mine a few weeks ago and my disc did not support it because i have vista so i went on line and down loaded a programme, so if you type in software download for deskjet just follow the programme you want and you should be able to scan
hi... u can call 1800 332 4120... thats lexmark tech support # & request a cd shipment. the technician will send u any lexmark printer's cd... cuz all lexmark printers ship with a cd which has an ocr software on it. this ocr software is common to all the pirnter models
you need to do a shipment set on the machine.
press function-7-monitor button "press it 4 time" the the * star key... should say service mode. then press 6 then press up arrow twice "should say shipment set" then pres start then 1 .. it should say initialize now. if it does wait a few minutes and your done
First off, how is the device connected? is it on a USB cable or a Ethernet, if it is set up with a paralell cable it will not scan correctly.
Also, is all the sotware loaded onto your comuter.
You may want to go to the lexmark site, download the all in one firmware and reload it following the setup instructions to be sure all the items on the device are properly loaded.
It would be at lexmark.com. And look for downloads. Then look for your product. A fresh install with the newest software would be the best way to go to be sure everything is in stalled.
Let me know ok? I will help you as much as I can.
Believe me I understand, I have a unique glasses prescription and broke mine a month ago, had to wait a week for them to be made. So I understand how he feels.
