Re: when i was trying install winxp the system haunged up
Usually when this happens it is either a physical hard drive problem or a hard memory problem (sometimes it is other hardware but more than 90% of the time it is of these two components) . Google and download DFT, burn it to disk following the manufacturers instructions, boot the system to it and do an advanced full test. If that comes back clean, Google and download Memtest and follow the same steps. If both of these comes back clean, it is possible that there is some other hardware issue. If doing a full install be sure to format the disk, if doing a soft install (repair install) then you may be forced to do a full clean install.

This sounds like the Blue Screen of Death. Most likely a hardware problem. Does the blue screen display words and numbers? If so try to write down numbers and do a Google search. This should give you a good starting point. Or send me a snap shot of screen and I\'ll see what I can come up with. Hope this helps.
Why would you want to do that? What does the blue screen error message say? Blue Screens most of the time means you've got a driver issue. Are there windows xp drivers available for the CQ40? If it came with windows 7 on it that means it's fairly new and I'd doubt they took the time and effort to make drivers for a previous operating system.
this blue dump screen may be due to many reasons.
the first that we can try is that try the windos installaiton using some another installaiton cd with some upper version. eg if you are trying to install windows XP SP2 then try to install XP SP3 . I am sure it will resolve your problem. Max time this problem is due to the hardware incompatibilty with Operating system. So i recommend you to try some another installaiton cd with upper or diff. version. \
If the problem still continue then its some hardware issue.
First when you power up the computer PressF1 or F2 or "del" key to enter in bios .
Then load optimal defaults then save settings and exit.
Then boot your computer with winxp disk.. Delete all partition of harddisk and create partition again . . Try this 2-4 times you done it. If still face problem then you have to refix RAM memory.
Also check that your winxp disk is working fine.Change your winxp disk then try. Let me know if you need more assistanse. Thanks.
The blue screen means the system is experiencing a fatal error... a error from which it cant recover.... so while booting press f8 and boot using safe mode... then analyse the startup programs of your system using Start->Run and then typing msconfig in the window that appears and then going to the startup tab... one of your latest installed program might be misfunctioning....
