Question about Bulldog Security Bulldog Remote Starter & T-Harness Kit for 95-03 Chevy Blazer/Chevy S-10 Pi
I got a Bulldog Remote Start for Christmas this year. My model is an RS1100. It has a gray wire antenna. My remote start works but only from 5 feet away from the car. Bulldog tech people told me I could extend it with 22 guage wire. I did so and my range is still only 5 feet. I even changed the battery in the remote starter. Any other suggestions?
Get a Viper 5900, it has a 1 mile + range
Or a viper 5601 has a 2000 ft range.
Bulldog is DIY and entry level stuff. You cant expect much from them.
The wire antennas work the best when they are stretched out. Not wadded in a ball or in a loop. If you have to loop it use figure 8's. Try streatching it up the "A" pillar and in the headliner across the top of the windshield. Also, do not ground the antenna, and let the end hang.
Also check your hot and ground connections. Make your ground at the kick panel sheet metal. Do not use a factory ground or a metal bracket in the dashboard. Do use a file or sandpaper to buff the ground site to the bare metal.
