Question about Gigabyte GA-8I915P Duo Pro Motherboard

1 Answer

Toasted? I have the ga-81915p pro.On a beautiful sunny day(sarcasm),i can't seemingly turn on the pc.the power led only light up for a tick of a second, and there is this weird smell in the Power supply unit.I decided to change the PSU but this one has the same smell.after I tested the psu on another mobo,it does work, but for some reasons minedon't only works(even with the old psu) when I pluck out the 12v CPU fan supply(works here means the power led light up),but i can't hear any beep nor any indications on the monitor that my computer is working or broken. Somebody please tell me the solution to the prob(and fast)? Please and thank you

Re: toasted?

I would check the connector from the psu to the motherboard where it plugs in and check that there isnt any plastic melted socket on the terminals as it may be shorting on the motherboard and the fan is drawing the fumes out making look as if its the power supply

I got Gigabyte GA-81915P PRO Motherboard. Swich on the power there was a bang - power supply caps were blown. Got new power supply when I switch it on it immediately switches off - nothing on the monitor....

Have you tried checking if you motherboard had been damaged when your power supply exploded?
Cause theres a big chance that your motherboard will be damaged, cause explosion of power supply will trigger excessive voltage to your motherboard.

So if your motherboard is damaged, there will be no chance for your computer to turn on even if you change your Video and Memory Card.

I need to upate my pc or replace it to play games i have shader 2 so i know i need a better graphics card but would like to get as much ram on my pc as it will take as to the REV you lost me there i dont...

i think you mean upgrade and yes, if you want to run latest games and good performance you need to change your rig. the gigabyte ga-81915p is very limited, in case of processors used most are old like P4,celeron D and P4HT you need something that can support core 2 series.

You will have to download a software and install it so that your sound device can work.
Try this link directly to the manufacturer's website:
GA-81915P Duo Pro

Download the Microsoft UAA (Universal Audio Architecture) Bus driver (Full Multi-language version ) first and install it. Then download the C-Media Function driver for Intel 925/915 family.

Good Luck to you!

Changing motherboards

Usually it is on the manual with the mother board you bought, in any case that its not,

try looking to a bunch of pins along the corner with a marking pw | rs | spk | hdd | led |
pw - power
rs - reset
spk -speaker
hdd - hdd power (red blinking light)
led - green light (power)

Below is a link to the Manual for this Motherboard. Page 24 contains a diagram of where to plug in the front side led's and switches..

Pick any location except for the American server, it doesn't seem to want to download properly.

Gigabyte GA-8INXP Motherboard Problem- front connector pins

If the wires from the reset switch is white/blue the blue wire is positive, Hdd red/white red is positive power Green/white Green is positive etc. The wires on the speaker connector will be red/black/black/white - red is positive. The colored wire is always positive. On all GA mb's the positive connection is always towards the back of the MB and are marked with a + on the base of the pin as you can see on the photo. Hope this help.
