Re: Slowness and Audio Vibrations

Firstly, your startup is slow more than likely because you have too many unecassary programmes running on start up, so download the excellent free ccleaner programme from the link below and analyse the system and run a clean up and also click the tools tab and startup tab, here you will see all the programmes running on satrtup, you can delete them in this programme from the startup, althogh this doesnt delete the entire programme, only the start up. the noise from the audio files needs to be explained a little better, unless you mean the vibration from the dvd drive, if so this is common on some drives when they have difficulty reading files, or if you mean files that are on your pc are causing vibrations, the only thing i can think is that maybe your onboard mic volume or boost is set too high and is picking up the sound and reverbing.

How do I add windows 7 to a dell xps 8700 that came with windows 8.1 using a separate hard drive? Is it possible?

No, it isn't possible doing it the way you want to. You can't have 2 operating systems running at the same time. When you start win 8.1, that OS is running, and installing Win 7 on an external SSD won't work while Win 8.1 is running. You can install VirtualBox for free and create a virtual machine to run Win 7 inside of Win 8. You can do the same with the free VMWare Player. You can also shell out some money for VMWare Workstation and create virtual machines that way. Another option is to create a dual boot machine on your Win 8.1 machine. That is out of the scope of this message right now. There are lots of tutorials on the web.

How can i see files created in windows os after installing ubuntu 14.04 tls

when you computer turns on it should automatically ask you what os you would like to boot from. on a side note of you go into your harddrive you should find a folder named "windows" or
"windows old" and all the files you saved should be in there. seems to me that u install'd ubuntu over windows and now only have ubuntu on your computer... but you should still have that windows folder if you chose not to delete you files.making a new partition does not mean you will have 2 os's on your computer... hope this all helps.

Lot of disturbance coming in speakers..... when using earphones the sound is clear

If on battery power: Some laptops make little "squicky" noises sometimes. This is normal for some laptops. Try re-installing the software for your soundcard using the dell support site:
If on grid power:Please check that you are connected to a grounded outlet. Next you should check if there are no machines like washing machines, microwaves or vacuum cleaners on the same connector box as your laptop is. Those devices can create some disturbance.

Slowdown to very slow for loading any program. And I just added a gig of memory - now at max of 2gig RAM. Sound is also "watery". Slowness is big issue--

Press the windows key plus the R key on the keyboard or click on Run command for XP, type %temp% and delete all files there
Do a clean boot
Run a Hard Drive test available from different manufacturers like Seagate
If not run a system restore to a previous date when it was working. Start menu, all programs, accessories, system tools...
Backup and start a full format and recovery

I guess the watery sound may be caused by some driver settings or related to the slowness, try checking in control panel or uninstalling and reinstalling driver.

How do I setup a dual boot for a PC with Vista and XP? I want XP to start automatically. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite L355-S7915 that had Vista Home Basic preinstalled.

The first thing you need to do is repartition the hard drive. This will effectively erase the drive because partitions run below the OS level.

You create two partitions and then you can load each OS to its own partition. When the box boots you choose the OS you want to start and thats it...I think if you put the preferred OS in the first partition it will load that one by default.

You need both OS disks to do this so make sure your factory Vista disk works.

Internet is working very slow, was ok upuntill

You are very lucky that you know the date the problem started. This will make it easier to find out what caused this slowness. I'd suggest you go and check your firewall reports up to yesterday's date to find anything strange and run a malware scan. Slowness can indicate spywares that utilize your system and grind the hard disk for the information it is programed to collect. Also check if there were any other installations that took place yesterday which may have corrupted the system or is incompatible with the system. If my suggestions work, please do rate me. Thanks

Verry slow

A slow computer is indicative of adware/spyware/viruses - and you don't need to reinstall the OS (you'll lose all files - even with a "non-destructive recovery").

Go to and download, install, update, and run these programs IN ORDER (they are all free):

Malwarebyte's' Anti-Malware

After that, run your Antivirus program.

Then, go back to and download Glary Registry Repair - run that.

And, then run a Windows Defrag.

Finally, do Windows Updates.
