I brought my Acer Aspire 5920 laptop a couple of months ago and I have a really annoying problem where a window pops up saying 'Synaptics Touchpad Enhancements have stopped working'. It didnt used to happen that often but it happens regularly now (like every time I use my laptop). I lose my scrolling function on the touchpad and the scroll button below the toupad stops working. The 'play'/ 'stop'/ 'rewind'/ forward' touch-buttons stop working too. Everything works fine when I reboot but I'd prefer using another way to fix my problem-so if anyone has any suggestions, please help!
Hi!
I resently had the same problem on my HP laptop and search Google for possible solutions. No solution works until I tried Windovs Update and then got 5 alternatives - Synaptics PS/2 port TouchPad was one of them. I update and restart and finally solve this problem.

I reinstalled the driver and it didn't fix it for me. Just sayin'
I have an HP laptop, running Vista that is just over a year old now. I lose the functionality of the touchpad enhancements all the time and it's infuriating! I can always get them back by rebooting, but who wants to do that all the time?????
I did a little looking around and it appears that re-installing the Synaptics driver may fix the issue.
