Can you please be more specific on this?..if the freezer is continuously running, then there might be a problem with the condenser coils. have you tried changing the temperature control?..does it make the difference in the temperature of the refrigerator (excluding the freezer)?

if while changing the temperature setting doesnt make a change, then there might be a problem with the temperature controls too.will wait for your comments.

I am sure there is a relay that the thermostat controls, it is most likely stuck closed, consult a appliance repair about the part and the location.

Have 8550510 Kenmore Refrig that stopped running.

Sounds like the thermostat is bad . Without the complete model number , including the first 3 numbers , such as 110. , 106. , 253. etc , I can't tell you how to access it . If you can get access on your own , jump the 2 wires connected to the thermostat , and see if the compressor cuts on . If so , replace the thermostat .

Kenmore 253 9280413 freezer keeps running

The coils are embedded in the outer walls and will make the cabinet feel warm outside when the compressor is running. It needs about 4 inches of clear air space around all the outer case walls to properly get rid of its heat. If you have items stored too close to the outer walls they will act as insulation to keep heat from being dissipated. This can cause long run times.

A unit that has lost freon gas due to leakage, while unlikely, can also extend run times. Normal temperature should be about Zero when the dial is set to halfway.

Good Luck

Kenmore model No. 253 11312100

Hi, No this freezer is not a self defrosting model. If it is defrosting while the compressor is running, you have a major problem.
If the compressor is not running, check the outlet for 120V and then check the thermostat to see if it is in the on position. If the control is on but the compressor os not running, check it for continuity. It must show closed while in the on position.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

If the freezer was stored and not running for 7 years it may have lost coolant.  Since the compressor is running recharging the coolant may fix the problem.  Hot compressor might indicate low coolant since its motor is immersed in it.

Kenmore Frost Free Comm. Model #253-23425100 - will not stay cold

Two things:

Either the thermostat has inadvertently been turned up, (too warm) or the gas in the compressor tank is low. If it isn't #1, call a repair tech to replentish the has in your compressor. If that isn't it he will tell you what he thinks it is. Good luck!

Freezer won't run

There is no reset switch. There is a thermal overload protector mounted on the compressor. Does the compressor hum and then give a click sound. If so your compressor has failed. If the compressor is cold (Room Temperature) and it does not try to run your thermostat may be bad. If so remove the temperature control and jumper the two main wires that connect to the control. Unit should be unplugged to do this operation. Insulated the wires so they do not contact any metal surface. Plug the freezer back in. If it runs and cools replace the thermostat.
