Question about Maytag Washing Machines
I washed a load normally, unloaded it, then set the dial to permapress wash, to fill, and it began to put water in, then I put the lid up and the top of it hit the cabinet above, and it was as though a switch went off, no water, nothing. I have reset, turned off and on, checked the power, tried setting on another setting, etc. I wanted to lift the top but could not figure out how to get it off. Can there be a switch or a wire that jarred loose?
I called a friend who used to have a Maytag store and is an electrician, who said it was probably the lid switch assembly, and we checked it, inside the panel back, could not get it to work, so today he replaced it and it works fine! That little plastic part controls all the electrical and operating actions of the whole machine.
