Removal of the back panel in the freezer compartment

A repairman came to my home 2 times to unclog a drain hose and needed to remove the back panel in the refrigerator. There are no apparent clips or screws and is lost about getting this panel off and doesn't want to pry it off for fear of breaking it. It is a GE model GTS201CNCC. Any suggestions?

You should be able to see where the drain tube comes out over the drain pan. Get some thin wire and run it down the tube and when it comes out in the drain pain, tie something onto it like a small piece of cloth and pull it back up through the drain tube to swab it out. The tape is no big issue, if you want to do something about the rust, there is a product that autoparts stores sell that turns rust into a hard, rigid metal. Or you can use a blow drier to make sure it is dried out and then spray rubber under coating on it.

Water dripping from freezer into refrigerator

Hi,Most likely the drain in the freezer is clogged up and frozen. Every time when your fridge automatically defrosting defrosted water dripping inside the fresh food compartment. You have to remove the back panel in the freezer and using a hair dryer defrost the drain which is located under the evaporator coil. Then put very hot water through the drain until it goes free.
Yes, you need to remove the back panel inside the freezer, It should have screws that come out then it should pull off and out.

On your model, the defrost drain hole/line is located inside of the freezer behind that back access panel, just remove that back panel, remove your freezer floor panel FIRST(Has 2 screws in front), that simply pulls out, then you will see the drain hole under the evaporator coil. It may be iced up, you will have to clear all of the ice and run hot water down the drain hole.

Once the back panel screws are removed that panel should just pull off, pull hard. Make sure your refrigerator is unplugged first.

Good luck.

How do I access the drain tube to unclog it?

I have been able to gain access to it from the drain pan area under the unit then use my wet dry vacuum to **** the debris out of it. The rear has a panel you can normally unscrew to see it.

Liking water front door

You need to remove the panel inside the freezer compartment to access the evaporator rain line. Once accessed, you will see a drain hole. That drain has a hose leading to a pan in the back of the refrigerator; this drain is plugged an causing water from defrosting ice to drain to the pan in the back of the refrigerator. You need to unstopped that drain hose with compressed air and not chemical.
If you have any probem removed the panel inside the freezer, removed the cardboard panel to access the drain hose. Grab the hose and blow compressed air into it. Please note that you will be blowing back into the freezer compartment, and some cleaning will be necessary. The drain hole will then be opened.

Water is draining into the refrigerator. It fills

Good day,
In the freezer if it has an ice maker, it will have to be removed.
Remove the back panel. Below the cooling coil is a drain pan.
It has a drain hole in it. If it is iced over you will have to defrost it, with the machine off.
Many use a hair dryer, but hot water with a turkey basting tool is
safer.
Once the drain hole is open, you will have to follow thru since the water drains into a cup in the fresh food compartment then thru the back wall into a drain hose on the rear.
Blockage can occur anywhere thru that area.
Service techs usually use compressed air with a hose to blow the lines clear.
If you have no access to something like that you wil have to get creative. Removing all the components and flushing them out is one option.

Frigidaire leaking

the drain in the freezer compartment is frozen up you can remove all items from lower freezer and remove access panel on back of freezer compartment pick the ice out of the drain hole with a small screwdriver DO NOT USE SCREWDRIVER AROUND THE ALUMINUM COILS! once all ice is gone that you can see use hairdryer to blow into hole on medium heat. once it looks like it is gone take a small 1/4 plastic tubing and push down the hole to try to clear obstructions then run hot water down hole. if it still doesnt drain take rear access panel off of compressor area (back of refrig) look for drain hose and remove clamp take off and clean u might try this first. but you will have to remove ice from drain.

Frozen water in bottom of freezer

Every ten to twelve hours your refrigerator activates a heating element around the evaporator to defrost the accumulation of frost that develops on the evaporator. Behind the back panel there is an evaporator pan it has a rubber grommet with a hole in it this is your defrost drain hose it is clogged. Unplug or switch refrigerator off at breaker panel, remove panel covering evaporator area (rear panel in freezer), use a hair dryer or hot water to unclog defrost drain a turkey baster works well to make sure the hose is unclogged.
the water that drains down this hose accumulates in the defrost drain pan in the base of the refrigerator under normal operation the heat from the refrigeration system evaporates this water. The drain pan has a limited capacity so do not poor more than 20-20oz of hot water down the hose after you unclog it. If you poor to much it wont hurt anything just make a mess youll have to clean up.
