Question about InFocus X1A Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

X1a powers on, then video dies

I have an x1a that only has 96 hours on it since I purchased it new approximately a year and a half ago. It has worked great until this week when the picture went black after about 1 or 2 minutes running. The lamp stays on, but there is no picture on the screen. I can shut it down, wait a couple minutes and the result is the same thing, after a minute the picture just goes black. This seems to be a heat related issue. There are two fans internally, (that I can see), a small one directed toward the color wheel and a larger one directed at the lamp, and they are both spinning just fine. I removed the lamp and cleaned the screen, which really wasn't that bad. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is and how I can fix it?

the most inexpensive thing to change would be the power input board, which is what the plug plugs into, if that isn't the problem, you can look at the glass fuse on the power supply next to the input board to see if it is blown. if it is the fuse then the power supply needs to be replaced unless you know someone to desolder and resolder a thru hole fuse. Also, make sure the lamp door is shut properly. If the door doesn't push the safety switch in it will not complete the cicuit to allow power to the projector.

I have an Infocus X1a Video Projector. The bulb went out & then I heard a "pop" sound I assume that because it's not coming on the fuse is blown. What do you think? So I want to know where I can...

if there are no leds on the top, then you're right about the fuse. radio shack or any electronics store will carry them. it's a ceramic buss fuse. 5 amp, 250 volts. bring the fuse in to them and they're help you. there are places on line that will have them too, but shipping would cost more than the part itself. if the fans come on and no light, it may have just been the lamp.

Lamp burned out on X1 infocus projector, Replaced lamp, new lamp stopped working in about 5 hours, got another new lamp and it does not light at all. Still blinking 3 red blinks(saying the bulb is bad)

make sure the colorwheel is spinning. if it is not, replace it. also, blow the dust out of it with canned air. excessive dust kills lamps quickly. you'll also need to reset the lamp timer. are you using an sp-lamp-009? the sp-lamp-018 looks exactly like it, but is used in th x1a and x2. the x1 only uses the sp-lamp-009. if all else fails, replace the power supply.

Infocus X1a no picture, solid green LED

if the lamp is new, it could be the power supply (the ballast is built in to the ps). but make sure you have the right lamp. the X1 and X1a have an sp-lamp-019 and the similar X2 and X3 have an sp-lamp-018. the lamps are almost identical except for the wire configuration on the lamp plug. make sure the wires in the plug match the positions in the socket. also, when you turn it on, if you don't hear a high pitch squeal, the colorwheel is not working. and if that isn't working, the lamp won't either. also check to see if the lamp door is closing properly and hitting the switch at the top of the opening.

Infocus x1a projector shuts down after 30 seconds - dust problem ??

do you have the correct lamp? the x1a takes an sp-lamp-009, that has 2 white wires, and not the more common sp-lamp-018 which looks exactly the same except has one white and one red wire (and are in different plug positions). if it still doesn't light, there is another issue (possibly the colorwheel) along with the lamp timer reset.

IN72 Projector problem

My understanding when we purchased our IN72 2 years ago is that there wasn't any additional benefit for Cable box using HDMI since the IN72 does not transmit audio so using component cables for cable was optimized enough. We have our DVD player connected via the HDMI only. Possibly the transmission from cable box through an HDMI is not compatible audio is confusing it? hard to say. Cable HD channels look awesome thru the compenent cables, the max for IN72 is 480i anyway.

We've got 35 ft cables for all 3 hdmi, compenent, and that vcr one too and it's worked great.
