Question about Dell XPS M1210 Notebook

Password authentication system

I have a demm xps m1210 laptop and its locked...cant get it open.... i taken it to a computer store and they tried rebooting it from a cd but prssing f2 or f12 nothing appears. i heard that u can remove the cmos battery...but mine is and external blue battery, never seen one like this before, anyway i cant find the jumper to reset the pins.....i removed the battery overnight and nothing happen?
can anyone help me?

    Can't get it open? If it will not boot due to a password that you do not know - on most laptops clearing the cmos will not fix that.



    If that it the case, call Dell - they have a way to get inmay to it. You have to fax them proof of ownership, at least that is what I had to do with an HP.

I am afraid that such kind off issues could only be solved by motherboard replacement, unless you can contact Dell support with a proof of ownership of this notebook.

Dell XPS M1210 Administrator password and password log on problem


This is a known vista issue where it creates a backup of your profile for some reason there registry edits to try and fix it but a system restore is much easier. Follow the below steps to solve problem.

Turned computer on and immediately pressed F8 repeatedly until I got "Advanced Boot Options" select "Safe Mode" computer then opens safe mode login as admin if possible, with a "Help" window, in the help window there is an underlined "What is System Restore?" then select "Click to open System Restore" restore to a previous state before which the fault occurred.
Click OK and after config changes should be good to go.
