Question about Sewing Machines
I have an electrictric portable Kenmore sewing machine, model # 158 10600, serial # 0005214 that sqeeks when I sew. Do I need to oil it? How do I do this and what type of oil do I use? I have recently sewn alot of polar fleece and feel it may be bogged down a bit with fuzz. I tried to sweep a bit of it out, but it may still be pretty clogged. Thank you.
Yes, you need to oil your machine. If you have your manual, it should give you the spots that need to be oiled. You use sewing machine oil that you can get at Walmart or JoAnn fabrics. Also, if you take the plate off, all the fuz from the polar fleece is probably around the feed dogs. A drop of oil on the feed dog area would probably help. Just make sure the oil isn't on the surface to get on your fabric. :) Pretty much, if it's a moving part, I oil it. It's best to follow the manual though.
