The motor is probably stiff. Reach in and turn the drum by hand. It should be very easy to turn. The motor can be oiled but you will have to make some oil ports. I use an 1/8th inch drill bit and I fill the wells with turbine oil.dryer shuts off early - 47e3cae.jpg

My kenmore dryer runs for 5 minutes and shuts off. I have replaced the door switch and ran the dryer with the vent hose detached. Still not working

Try this: Find the sensing bars and clean em with 409 or windex. They may be coated with stuff from dryer sheets. This builds up a moisture barrier. The machine does not FEEL the wetness from the clothes and assumes they are dry.So it shuts down after 5 minutes. Let me know.

My maytag duet electric dryer is heating, all controls seem fine, we cleaned out the lint traps, checked the hose and blew out vent as well. The dryer keeps shutting off early before clothes are dry. They...

Your moisture sensing bars may have junk on them. The way your machine detects drynesss ir with we clothes.
As them wet clothes rub them bars they short out the board and that way it knows them clothes need a bit more time.
If thm bars get a bit of softener oem and glaze over the bars then wetness won;t be detected no more and the control won't know them thangs is wet or dry and most likely declare a No Joy.

Dryer shot off

Try cleaning off the moisture sensor bars. (two 1/4 inch wide, about 5 inch long metal strips about an inch apart inside the dryer, near the lint trap.) These strips can get coated, often times from waxy residue from fabric softener sheets, and then no moisture is detected, so the dryer thinks clothes are dry, and after a short (5 minutes) cool down, it shuts off. If you use the manual / time dry, dryer should work fine even if the sensors are coated.

Dryer shuts off after about 5-10 minutes of running. The top of the dryer is hot.

Howdy: There is a thermostat inside the unit in the back. If this has lint clinging to it, it will shut off unit. Also the firing ignitor has two soleniods
that stick and turns off unit too early. But with the top of dryer hot I would say the heat always stays on and the thermostat shuts off ignitor. The firing should be a pulse type heat, not a constant heat. Good luck - Doug
