2000 Impala high pitched squeal, not a pulley

It could be a vacuum leak on the inlet manifold or pipes Start engine and allow it to idle, spray some wd 40 or similar around the inlet manifold & vacuum pipes, if you notice a change in engine speed when you spray you will have found the area of the leak

Emerson EWF2704. Plug it in and a high pitch squeal is coming from the board. Originally tv had no vertical now it won't come on at all. Thought there were bad solder joints and re heated them but still...

Hi.

The problem is likely the deflection yoke.

Try to understand if the noise is coming from the flyback transformer, from deflection yoke and ferrite beads in the horizontal deflection circuits or from one of the boards.
If the problem is one of the boards, then the noise may be produced by a melting capacitor.

If problem is the deflection yoke, then the most common fault is still a cold solder joint. Rather than randomly heating all joints you need to check continuity (read Ohms to verify circuit is closed) to ensure that the solder joints are fine.

Here a service manual

Headset Pitch

Problems with electronic equipment that exhibits a fault after being switched on for some time can often be traced to a thermal fault. Most usually part of the circuit exhibits high resistance due to a microscopic gap opening up in a component or a defective soldered joint. If removing the jack plug and replacing it clears the fault for a while this suggests that one of the terminals of the socket may be badly soldered. This can sometimes be identified by visual inspection of the joints. Look for a soldered connection which appears as a bead of solder apparently not wetting the circuit track or the pin. If not obvious suggest you carefully resolder all the joints to the jack socket. To get a good joint you may have to clean up areas around existing joints so that the solder wets the metal. Take care not to overheat any surrounding components.

RCA Model f27650 High pitch squeal

the high pitch squeal indicates shorted component/s. the transformer goes hot co'z its being overloaded by the shorted component, it too could be the one creating the squeal!!

if you have experience with electronic troubleshooting, try to test some of the components particularly on the secondary part of the transformer.
Be careful and make sure the TV set is unplugged.
test for shorted diodes and transistors, if you're in doubt of your readings try to desoldering one leg of the diode then proceed with the testing/measuring. replace any of the bad components you find exactly with same part number or replacements with the same rating.

spend more time on it resoldering some other cold soldered components.

Screaming acer!

sometimes if the inverter board (the part that drives the backlight) has a cold solder joint on it, it can actually generate a high pitched resonating sound (aka a screaming squeal sound)

if it's under warranty, have the manufacturer correct the problem.

if not under warranty, retouch the solder points on the inverter board, or have a repair tech fix it for you.
