All of the .dll files are stored under the Windows directory. They are used to run programs. If it is corrupt then you have two options: 1)search your hard drive with *.dll to find out what directory the file is in. 2)look on your installation disk under the same directory and copy the file over. This will correct your problem.

Missing driver shdocvw.dll won't boot (e-machine)

you can download that driver here... http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?shdocvw make sure you download the driver and not any of the "fixes" etc

boot up while tapping the F8 key... then boot to safe mode. download and move that file to c: windows/system32 then reboot your computer normally

Tick Disable Script debugging (internet explorer)

Press Apply then click OK

or..

1. Go to the Start menu and choose "Run..."

Start up . Black screen.

What OS? Have you tried F8 at boot to enter safe mode? Can you actually boot windows ok?
Here is a link to HP support options.
I would begin by running chkdsk c: /r from the recovery console (or from windows if you can get it to run.) (instructions here & here)
Then use MBAM to scan for malware.(guide here.) and remove anything it finds.
If no joy, run sfc /scannow and see if that helps. (instructions here)
If that doesn't help, try uninstalling and reinstalling your Internet Explorer. See here for info about the shdocvw.dll file.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Shdocvw.dll

Does this error appear on startup? Or While launching a particular program.

Try going to Add/Rremove programs under control panel.
On the left pane - click on Add/remove windows components.

Try removing any unused/unwanted utility form that list.
Restart the computer, and check if you still get the error.
