Question about Dell W3706MC 37 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

The TV turns on; there is no picture or sound

I have a 37 inch Dell LCD tv. I have had the tv for a couple of years. Randomly yesterday morning I went to turn it on, and it did. However, the Dell splash screen would not load up nor was there sound. The blue on light was showing that the tv was on. Any idea what the problem is, and how I might repair this on my own?

We have the same exact problem. We turn the tv on and see the blue light but no sound or picture. Our warranty is up by about 6 months but we still called Dell about getting the tv fixed. Dell wants approx. $700 to ship the tv to Ohio which is where we live. My husband offered to drop it off and they said,"no," it has to be shipped. A technician said the problem is with the power switch board but Dell wants $300 just to evaluate a problem that has already been identified. Dell customer service has been a nightmare.

My hisense 50 inch lcd tv has picture but no sound.

If you still have back light, then the T-con is probably defective. If you don't have back light, then you either have a bad power board/inverter or a defective panel

If the backlight of the LCD-panel does not function, (no picture) then Master and/or Slave inverter are defective. Inverter boards are screwed to both sides of the LCD display, if they have revision 1.2 boards then they will need replaced with revision 1.3 boards.

It sounds like it's the inverter panel which lites the lcd back light.
If it's under warranty, try to replace it, or take it in for svc.
