Question about Dishwashers
The soap dispenser stays latched throughout the cycle. I can manually open it but I am not sure at what point in the cycle it normally opens.
What controls the opening of the dispenser lid? Thanks for you help.
Make sure the dial that you turn to start the dishwasher is all the way to the beginning. Sometimes my little grandson comes by and plays with it, turning it. I load, add soap and the dispenser won't close. I check the outside dial, and sure enough, set it to the very beginning and the dispenser locks in place!

do you have a salt unit fitted. I had the same problem and the repair guy had to replace the salt unit as it was blocked up. Failing that it might be the board not opening the solenoid to allow the water to be jetted through the soap dispenser.

SOURCE: i have a kenmore dishwasher.
disasemble the pump housing and remove the debris that are located in the housing, not enough pump pressure to spin the spray arms to desolve the detergent
