Question about Acer Aspire 5920-6727 Notebook
Whenever I try to connect the Acer crystal eye webcam with my msn messenger the following message appears: "Your conversation cannot begin because your camera is currently in use or not plugged in. Make sure your camera is available and try again."
However when I connect the webcam using my desktop icon it works!!!
when I try to start my webcamera in live messenger, I get that its already in use, or not plugged in.
Straight from MSN helpdesk:
1. Click Start, click Run, copy and paste the following text: %SystemDrive%\Program Files\McAfee\SiteAdvisor in the Run box and click OK.
2. Right-click the file sasets.ini or sasets.dll and select Open With, then select Notepad.
3. Locate the section titled [msnmsgr.exe].
4. Change Enabled=1 to Enabled=0.
5. Click File and select Save.
6. Close sasets.ini or sasets.dll and restart your computer

The problem comes down to Ati graphics adapter driver, i have reinstalled windows and added all the drivers one by one, while also checking the camera working on msn at the same time, after installing the driver for the graphics card, msn gave me the error message camera already in use by another program, i know its not a solution but after uninstalling the driver it started working again

Not sure if this is applicable however, if you have your crystal eye webcam window open it wont work on msn because the camera is currently being occupied. If you find that after closing it, its still not working try checking your webcam settings on your computer and on msn =)goodluck

I've just bought a 7720 and had the same prob. Because i had a limited software support i phoned them and they told me to remove the sample pictures from the pictures folder and any other photo's in there and try it. And it worked, i don't know what it did but i can now use my webcam with MSN

My first reccomendation is to get the newest driver pack for that webcam specifically.
Before installing, I would uninstall the webcam drivers you currently have, reboot, then clean install the new drivers.
A lot of the time, it's a driver error that can cause that kind of problem.

Make sure you are not running the Desktop Icon program first. The camera can only be used by one program at a time.
Now login to Messenger, and click
Tools > Audio and Video Setup, and click Next past the audio settings, and choose USB Video Device from the list. It should work after a couple of seconds. If that doesn't work, try the other device drivers from the list, waiting a couple of seconds each time, until you can see some output in the window. Then apply and you're ready to go.
It's the same deal with Skype, except it's in
Tools > Options > Audio Settings.
Hope this helps
