Printer not recognising cartridge seating properly - Canon ip4300

I have recently replaced the magenta cartridge on my Canon IP4300 printer with a cheaper alternative and replaced the manufacturers micro chip fromt he riginal canon cartridge. When I reloaded it into the printer a now get a message telling me that the cyan cartridge and the magenta cartridge are not seated properly and therefore won't print. The light is also off onthe magenta cartridge despite it being full of ink. When I check both cartridges to ensure they're in correctly i find that they are correctly positioned. Can anyone help me please?

I had a similar frustrating problem - only (expensive) solution was to replace brand new Canon cartridge with another brand new Canon cartridge!!!

Try throwing the cartridge into a resetter.

Canon IP4300 - the two black ink cartridges

No!

The large cartridge is used for text only printing.
The smaller black cartridge is used for black in images such as pictures.

You have a "C (cyan) M (magenta) Y (yellow) and B (black) color system. This actually saves the color inks for you. If the Black was not there, you would need to make a composite black from the color inks.

IP4300 only recognizes magenta OR cyan

1. Get compressed air
2. Run Printhead under HOT water, do not worry about contacts getting slightly wet.

3. Blow compressed air with straw attachment into screens where the cartridge nozzle sits on printhead. then let it sit and dry.

4. reinstall print test page

5. if this fails open paint/photoshop and print a page of the color that is not printing correctly. rinse and repeat until colors flow freely.

I have several ip4300s and I have yet to give up the ghost on a printer with a clog ujsing this method.

Canon Pixma IP4300 - cartridge recognition preventing any printing happening.

I seem to be having a similar problem with my cannon pixma 4300 as certain others, i have just recently replaced all the inks with " original" cannon inks and all of a sudden it refuses to print anything, it says that one of the inks is not working, ( Yellow) I remove it, replace it again and the light comes on but when the slide retracts the light seems to go off. any ideas would be great, this seems to be a fault i have read a few times.

I have all the right ink in the cartridge , but printer did not print in color

Please make sure that the cartridge of the printer is not and working properly. You can test it form sending a test page to the printer form printer properties. If the test page is all right then check the application (which you are using) properties for color print and the default print properties of the printer. Hope the problem will solve if the cartridge is ok and not dry.

Magenta cartridge

I just wrote the same solution but I'm not familiar with this site however, I am JonathanD. I read about the ink cartridges having an expiration date on a chip that prevents the printer from recognizing the ink cartridge after that date. I called Canon to find out where that date is located on the ink cartridge or packaging so I can see how long it's good for when I buy them. They told me that there was no expiration date and the ink is good indefinitely... so I told them what I heard about the chip. I was then put on hold for a while and when they got back on the phone, I was told that they were sending me a new Magenta 8 cartridge "as a courtesy."
