Alternatively slow brew and water under drip tray

Hello,
I inherited this machine from my father and love it. Recently I have started getting alternatively either too fast or too slow brewing without ever changing the grind setting. It also seems like water and coffee "sludge" are leaking under the drip pan, particularly on the fast brews. I cleaned the brew group and spout but it didn't seem to help. Sounds like a clog somewhere behind the brew group but I don't know where to get started. Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Camuyano

Yes, as Pierre Laplante has said, behind the brew group there is a sort of triangular piece of plastic with a similar shaped hole in it. It has a small drain at the bottom that can be clogged very easily. The piece is glued fairly loose to the rest of the machine. I carefully removed the part to clean it thoroughly. Its function seems to be to funnel a little waste water into the wast water tray. Of course you can also clean it by not removing it. Once removed, you can glue it back on, or as I did, leave it unglued for easier cleaning once in a while. In that case make sure it stays in place when re-inserting the brew group.

My Saeco Incanto Deluxe occasionally overflows with dregs and water under the machine prior to the "dreg drawer full" message being displayed. Is there a counter tray available for this machine?

Hi
Grounds and water under the machine or drip tray indicate that the drain behind the brew unit is plugged.
Remove the brew unit. You will see the injector in the back of the machine. Below the injector is a pocket that the excess pressure is relieved into when the machine is done making a coffee. This pocket will plug up with ground and oils. The drain is just above the center of the drip tray. Insert something into the drain and see if you can unplug it. Once it has drained run some hot soapy water through the pocket.

We have a Gaggia Syncrony Logic that is just over two years old. After each brew cycle, the puck is successfully ejected but water and some grounds flow out under the drip tray instead of into it....

Hi
Check the drain behind the brew unit. There is a pocket below the injector that can plug up and cause water to drain under the drip tray. Check this first. Stick you finger in the pocket and see if there is water in it. If there is, the drain below and to the right is plugged and just needs to be cleaned.

Hi
Check behind the drip tray for coffee grounds. Make sure that your drip tray is locked in. If its not fully locked it, this could be your problem. If everything is removed but the brew unit, grab the handle without pushing the press button, and pull. If the brew unit comes out, it wasn't locked in. Put the drip tray in. Set the brew unit on the drip tray. Now slide the brew unit towards the machine with a little force and see if that locked it in?

Hi
Either your grind is very coarse or your injector seal is bad. The injector is behind the brew unit and has 2 orange O-rings on it. See if you can wiggle the injector?

Hi
If its dirty water your drain in back is plugged. There is a pocket below the injector nozzle that the pressure is relieved in when the brewing is done. This pocket can get clogged with residue after a while and then overflows under the drip tray. The drain is in back just above the back of the drip tray. If you pour water in the pocket it should come out the drain. If it doesn't, clean out the pocket, and that should take care of it. If it does,t, I need more information.

HI
Excess water into the drip tray is an indication that you don't have enough coffee going into the brew unit. There is a lever on the top of the door that has a + on one side and a - to the front. Push the lever back to the full plus, then pull it forward 1 click. Try that.
Water into the drip tray is normal in small amounts. This is the release of pressure after brewing, like the 3 way valve on commercial machines
