Question about Linksys WUSB54GSC Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter w/ SpeedBooster [WUSB54GSC] (LS-SB54GSC)

1 Answer

How do I get the firmware to work?

Thanks for your reply. But how and where do I get the firmware. I've tried Linksys.com but no new firmware has been released for the WUSB54GC. Still couldn't get the PC to get on the Internet after connecting to the Network. My PC is running on Windows XP SP2. I heard that some firmware will interfere with the video transcoding process. Any truth in that? Again, Thanks for your help.

Try upgrading to Windows SP3. if that doesn't work then reset your router then reconfigure everything that runs off that sometimes it locks up

I have a wireless-g router linksys with an older firmware dated in 2006 and i just recently bought a linksys wireless adapter for our new desktop pc that has windows 7 installed. i went through most steps...

The operating system on your computer is Windows 7 and the adapter is WUSB54GC. You are getting the Error 211 that means the drivers are not installed properly.
Though you have the CD of the adapter, you will need to download the drivers for the adapter from the web site.
Go to www.linksys.com/download , enter the model number of the adapter. select the proper version of the adapter. download the drivers for windows 7.
Now try to install the downloaded drivers. It will work.

The driver will not open using windows 7, i need a patch or driver that i can use with windows 7 to properly install the adapters?!

Try updating the firmware on the linksys. It might not support windows 7. Windows 7 is to new for this linksys product, and probably not design for it. There should be a logo saying this product is design for certain windows.

Can't get my adapter to connect...XP is stuck with Aquiring a network address.

Have had this same problem. This worked for me. Remove the adapter, uninstall linksys, if it is installed, restart the computer, insert the adapter, when found new hardware comes up, let windows use the install wizard to install the adapter. Sorry to say, i have used this method on 5 pcs and it failed on only one. Let's hope yours will also be possitive. Good luck.

Need working Windows 7 driver for Linksys WUSB54G V.1.0 Adapter

This driver should work with Vista, and based on the FAQ it should work with 64-bit although it wasn't designed for the 64-bit OS.

If the link doesn't work, let me know. I'll direct you to the download page to retrieve the driver.

Linksys WRT54gs router not seen by Mac

The firmware from Linksys doesn't work. Don't waste your time. Maybe the following freeware from http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm could help. "LSP-Fix" is a utility to repair a loss of Internet access by repairing the LSP chain by removing the entries left behind when LSP software is removed or altered by malware or spyware remover. Sometimes ZoneAlarm does the damage as well when blocking intruders. Hope it works for you.

I can't set up my wireless protection security error message " wireless security unable to set up"

hi i guess you must reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. If you saved a router configuration file, DO NOT use it. To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:

1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
5) Power down the router.
6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.

If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working. If you still have trouble setting up wireless security, please explain exactly what you are trying, and exactly what is (or is not) happening. What exactly is stopping you from setting up wireless security?

If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.

If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.

If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.

Please let me know how things turn out for you.
