WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL.

Installing additional DVD burners on your computer can turn your PC into a DVD-producing powerhouse, enabling you to burn multiple discs concurrently.

This is typically not a problem, as most computer cases can handle up to four separate optical drives at the same time.

The installation process is fairly straightforward, requiring no more than 20 to 30 minutes.

Turn off the computer and disconnect the power cord.

Remove the case screws at the back of the case and slide out the side panel.

Insert the new DVD burner into an empty optical drive bay at the top of the case.

Repeat for each new DVD drive.

Screw each drive into position.

Connect an IDE or SATA cable to the data port on the back of each drive (depending on your drive model).

Connect the white-tipped molex connector from your computer's power supply to the power port on the back of each drive.

These cables will already be inside your machine with one end connected to the motherboard and power supply, respectively.

All you will need to do is attach the other ends to the back of your optical drive.

Put the side panel back on, screw it to the case and reconnect the power cord.

Hope this helps.

I just bought a USB External/GE24 Super Multi Rewriter, with 24x speed. my problem is, when it burns, it burns EXTREMELY slow. I used to have an 8x burner, that would burn in about 5 minutes, and this one...

Hello mklvon,
Welcome to FixYa.Com!
I would like to recommend that you first take a look at your computer. Check if you have a USB 2.0 High Speed port. Reason is because although you have a USB 2.0 Ext Multi-Burner but your connecting it to a USB 1.0 or USB 1.1 port, the Multi-Burner will only run as fast as the USB port can transfer data.
Another time I would like to recommend is for you to take a look at the USB cable itself. As it is an Ext. Multi-Burner it may require a power USB port w/c is the reason why most Ext. Burner's have a Y-connector that is one USB port on one side and the other side branches off to 2 USB ports as it required extra power. If it is, you may want to consider your options as to getting a powered USB port.
And lastly, I would recommend that you take a look at the type of discs you are burning on to. Not all DVD R are the same. Whilst some have 24x speed some can have 4x speeds which can also affect the burn speeds.

How to format disk

When you recorded the Disk - you should see an option in the writer softer to finalise the disk - often disk are left open to add more information - called multi-session
have a look at the options page for the burner software you have , see if you have finalise or to unselect multi-session.
If you comment back on what software you are using to burn the Disks - I can see if i can find the option

What does "multi layer support" mean. Does it write multi layer discs? or is it able only to read them? Also, what is a lightscribe?

Multi-Layer support means the drive can Read/Write a Dual-Layer discs.

Lightscribe means you can create a label on a disk.

I have pictures on a cd-rw, I want to add more,

hi there,
It looks like you haven't enabled multi-session when you wrote that disc, Even if you enable it you can't delete the files written to the disc, but you can add more files to the disc.

Data written to the disc cannot be deleted but can be erased, which would erases all the contents of the disc. Here is the work around.

1. Copy the contents of the disc to a local drive
2. Erase the disc
3. Write the required contents back to the disc and enable multi session.
