    spoormans,
Just for clarification, when you put the original lens back on does the camera work?  Can you tell me what type/brand of lenses you have and are working with?  Is it new and digital or a standard AF lens?  That would help.

I had something very similar happen to me.
I now know what I did wrong.
I was using an older type lens that did not have electronic contacts.
I forgot to turn the camera off before I removed the lens and I believe this may have short-circuited the camera electronics.
I have to get the camera repaired at a cost of about £90 (sterling).

Can I use TOKINA lens 28mm-210 lens with this Nikon body or can I use with other NIKON body D 700?

Tokina makes their lenses with a variety of mounts. A lens with Canon mount, for example, won't fit onto a Nikon. Assuming you get the lens with a Nikon mount, then yes, you can use it with a D70 and with a D700.

I have a D70 and have just received a 50mm NIKKOR AF 1.8 primary lens. when I fit the lens, I get a flashing FEE message and the camera deos not work. Can you help?

Turn the aperture ring on the lens to its smallest aperture (largest f/number) and lock it. Control the aperture from the camera, just as with other lenses.

Is it worth selling mu 5 year old D70 camera (in good working condition) and buying this model?

I would say no. Why bother to sell one old discontinued camera just to buy another discontinued one? The D60 adds very little in the way of new features to the D70 (automatic sensor cleaning may be the most major one) and removes one very important capability (the ability to autofocus with non-AF-S lenses). If size and weight are a major consideration, then the D60 is smaller and lighter than the D70. But so are the newer D3100 and D5000.

No, I really can't recommend moving up to a D60. Nor can I really recommend a D3100 or D5000. Bear in mind that the D70 is a midrange DSLR. The D60, D3100, and D5000 are entry-level DSLRs, more suited to photographers with no experience in DSLRs. If you really must move up, I'd suggest the D90 or perhaps the D7000 (not the D700). But if the D70 is still working for you, you may not need to move up at all.

D70 viewfinder went dark all of a sudden

Some things to try.
Go to the menus and reset all of them to default.
Check the camera.
I am not sure this has anything to do with the lens. Diff. lenses may give less light, true.
I am almost sure this has something to do with the settings.
Try above and see if it works.

Camera will not power up changed battery just went dead Nikon D70

Fixing a Dead Nikon D70 - Green Blinking Light My first-generation Nikon D70, which I bought the day it was released to the market a few years back, died on me a few months ago. Without a card in it, it won't start, and when you insert a CF card in the slot, the green data-access indicator flashes on and off. If I hold down the Menu button, the menu flashes on and off along with the green LED.
d70_87x1.jpgAs it turns out, this is a known problem with the original Nikon D70 cameras, and Nikon USA has a service bulletin out on the camera body. They'll repair it free of charge.
So, if you have the same problem, visit this service bulletin page, http://nikonusa.com/Service-And-Support/Service-Advisories/D70-Service-Advisory.page click on the D70, and you can access a PDF file that you'll need to print, fill out and send to Nikon along with your camera body. Be sure to take your camera strap off and remove the battery, and don't send any lenses or other accessories.
Mine's on it's way to Nikon now - they say the turnaround is five days (plus shipping time).

Are you getting any power from it? How about an error message?

Try blowing some compressed air into the battery chamber. There might be some debri or dust in there. Try replacing the battery to see if that solves it. (Someone you know must own a D70).

D70 will not connect to

I checked all connection and cables and found two issues not related to camera. The USB cable was faulty, replaced and I could connect to computer through F port but the J and I port of the computer continues to not respond and I will need to see what is wrong there.

Crash

The D70 has a reset button at the bottom of the camera. Firts of all, I think you have checked you have the correct lens inserted (at least D mount) and well done, checked your memory card is correctly inserted, and if you have another, change it.Checked the battery. Looked the AF modes on the body. If everything is OK, then press the reset button. If you have no answer, then take the camera to the T. Service.
