I believe Shahid is correct... it's probably the pins.. try this... first make sure all switches are off during the entire process (viewfinder pushed in and keeping the LCD closed, try cleaning the pins on the back of the camera with a Q-Tip and Isopropyl alcohol (91% if possible)... leave it a bit damp and push the battery into place several times to clean it's contacts too.. then let everything dry, reconnect the battery and turn it on. The problem will hopefully be all gone.
The red light on the front of the camcorder is supposed to blink when it is charging. That indicates that it is still charging, the light will stop blinking when it is fully charged. Other than that does it work fine?
Hi . .
I downloaded the manual . . found I needed to replace the 3 volt lithium battery
located on the underside of the hand grip for the zoom.
Changed the battery . . . No red flashing icon in the viewfinder.
The flashing "boat" in the middle of the viewfinder just means the button battery is dead. Camera will still work. It's the little pull-out light grey plastic thing that's next to the heel of your right hand when you're using the camera normally. You need a CR2025 cell.
i was filming, and i tripped and my gl2 hit the ground. it hit the battery kind of hard and now it wont work properly. now when i turn it on, the power light blinks red or green, depending on playback and recording mode. i want to know how i can fix this.
I suddenly had similar problems with my SR300. I replaced the flat ribbon cable (looks orange) between the body and the LCD display and camera works like new. The ribbon cable is subject to cracking the internal wires where it flexes when you open and close the LCD display. There was also a new part number for the cable so I suspect it is a known problem.
