Hi, Sounds like a paper jam. There's a flap at the back of the printer-once open you should be able to see if the paper is stuck there. (Exactly the problem I had yesterday-I didn't spot it at first and it nearly drove me mad! :) Good luck, Raf
Definitely the fuser got problem. This can be confirm by pressing the Go button and only the Toner LED will light up.
What had happen was right after the power blackout the fuser has fused together both rollers (heating drum and rubber roller) where the paper pass through in between the rollers. Since there was a power blackout, the printer fan has stop functioning and the heat was unable to disperse out from the printer. Suggest to improve on design to disperse heat using aluminium cage in case of power blackout.
Who ever has a Brother HL-2040 should definitely use together with a UPS.
It depends on what error your machine has, but it has a critical error, all four lights, usally needs fuser, sometimes laser depends on what is indicated when one presses and holds the go button either way it needs to be workshoped to enable repairs to be performed.. link to lights explain on the 2040/2070
Table below is only service errors like coyote_k has. ie all four lights then press go to identify fault.
