Question about Dell Dimension 5150 (DIM515MIN) PC Desktop
Just today my computer has stopped "seeing" the cd-rom drive in my Dell Dimension 5150. It doesn't show up in the My Computer list or in the tree of files and devices in Windows Explorer. When I put a CD in the drive, the light flashes and I hear it trying to work, but the computer doesn't see it. Yesterday I installed a new version of iTunes and kept getting a message about Windows Installer not working. I got that fixed but now have this problem with the cd-rom, I don't know if the two are related or not.
Open your tower and reseat all the cables that are running to the CD ROM (generally a flat white cable). Also reseat the other end of the cable to the motherboard too.
Ensure that CD Drive is enabled in BIOS (Press F2 as the system boots up to enter into BIOS) Please get back if you need any further help.
