Hello, are you sure you've got a q2022a screen? I can only find reference to a S2022a. If it's that one, then you need a separate cable to the audio input socket from your PS3 as the audio is stripped off in the converter cable and there is no audio connection from the DVI-D socket to the speakers.
So, looks like you need two cables from your PS3.

Record and recording the sounds through the computer sound
is a relatively simple procedure that only a free space on the hard disk, suitable
software and a short profile of TRS cable is required. Windows computers
usually come with an audio recording program, from the entertainment equipment a
program is found in the Start menu.

1. Turning off the computer speaker's audio jack of your
computer's sound card.

2. Attach the small RCA cable into the sound card speaker
output.

3. Connect the other end of the RCA small correction to the
microphone port on your sound card.

4. Start the Sound Recorder program from the Start menu.
Click the Record button. Tell your computer to the sound you want music or
video progress bar to take to indicate when the movie is ready to play. Click
the Record button, which will continue to record.

5. Click the File menu in the Sound Recorder program and
select "Save As". Enter a filename and click Save.
Connect the "audio-output" (LEFT/RIGHT) channels from the A/V cassette-recorder to the "line-in" (LEFT/RIGHT) port on your computer.
Click the Windows START button.
Click All Programs.
Click Sound Recorder.
On the A/V unit, press Play.
Now, the Sound Recorder should indicate that it is receiving sound.

I just finished setting up my system last night and was facing similar problems with sound/video from my PS3. The only option I could get working was to have the HDMI cable connected from the PS3 to the TV and then connect the Optical cable to the receiver for sound. I was under the impression that HDMI handles sound and video but for whatever reason the PS3 does not agree.
I have DTS sound and fantastic picture now through my PS3, hope this helps.
You need to check to see if the dvd drive is set to digital playback because it is probably trying to find your on board AC97 - 5.1 digital output. With a music CD it doesn't have to be connected digitially because it uses analog for stereo playback but most DVD's - if a movie - are set to playback in digital. Open 'My Computer', right click on your DVD drive, select properties, select hardware, highlight your DVD drive, click on properties, then properties again, check- Enable digital CD audio for this CD-ROM device.
it seems as if you need to select your appiorate sound device
you can do this by clicking start / all programs / accessories / entertainment / volume control
then click on options and then properties , in the MIXER DEVICE select the appiorate sound device. is you are not sure whic one, play around until you find it. Also verify your settings for your ATI hight defionation audio to ensure you got it set up properly
