Too much vapor has fried the computer in it, you have to replace the microwave, part, or continue using it waiting for it to work over and over

SOURCE: ge spacemaker microwave jvm/1650

Mmmm it's so easy,
First disconect the power, take the cover off, moslitly there would be 5 screws and two tab's on the top.
inside on the right hand side the magnetron it's a sylver box measuring about 4 in x 4 in x 5 in. It will have a plasic cover moslitly that would have to be remove first then on the magnetron there is 4 crews and one connector.
It should fall downard after.
If you have a power supply after the secondary , that may also be your problem.

Regards

Bob

SOURCE: GE Spacemaker Oven shuts off after 3 min

Had one of these brought into shop. Customer complained it would run for 3 minutes (on high), then would shutdown and clock would reset. We noticed that there was no fan sound coming from it when we first ran it. Bingo! found magnatron cooling fan blade came off the motor shaft. After getting into it, found that there was no E-clip or any other fastener. The blade was glued on only. So we used a two part 5 minute epoxy glue and reattached, let glue cure and ran repeatedly to make sure no damage had occured to Magnatron or supporting components. All is well now! Hope this helps someone.

SOURCE: Daewoo WM1010CC convection/ microwave combo unit issues

Likely takes a torx wrench or some other special star tool to open it.

Could be a bad relay a bad mag tube or a bad timmer or a bad door switch. Needs to be trouble shooted. You have to get it open and check the fuses and test the voltage on the pri transformer first.

SOURCE: GE Profile Microwave will not heat

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell which part the microwave needs without opening it up for examination. There are a few parts that, if defective, would prevent the oven from heating.

  • a high voltage transformer which passes energy to the magnetron
  • a magnetron which converts high-voltage electric energy to microwave radiation
  • a magnetron control circuit (usually with a microcontroller)
This is NOT a repair that you would want to attempt yourself. The labor for the repair would cost a minimum of $50 and shouldn't exceed $100. You'll also have to pay for the necessary part if it's still available from the manufacture or their parts distributor.

I HAVE A GE MICROWAVE/BROWNER NODEL WES1384SM2SS. IT HAS STOPPED RUNNING. I CAN SET IT UP TO COOK BUT WHEN I HIT THE START BUTTON NOTHING HAPPENS.

Re: GE JES1384SF Mine quit working so I unplugged it and put a pot of boiling water in it and let the steam dissolve whatever was gumming things up. I used an electric hot plate to keep the water boiling. I let it boil for a couple of hours. I left the door 2/3 open. The microwave is working again. It is four years old and has been used every day, many times a day before it stopped working.

I have a ge spacemaker XL1400 model # JMV1440WD. Everything works fine but it will not heat anything. Any suggestions?

The magnetron (the part that heats the food) may be bad or the circuitry to the magnetron may have burned out. Basically my advice is that if you have no electrical expertise, it isn't worth fixing. The magnetron if bad, costs almost as much as a new microwave. If you open it up (make sure it has been unplugged for a few hours and don't seen any obvious burnt parts (including a fuse), then most likely the magnetron is done and a new microwave is the way to go.

Let me know how this works out for you.

A few weeks ago our ge JVM1660 quit heating and ge sent me a replacement magnetron. I've heard that the capacitor will discharge after the unit has been unplugged for 24 hours... Mine has been unplugged...

Hi newer microwave ovens have a built in resistor to bleed the power from the capacitor once it is unplugged. Saying this it is always a good safety practice to discharge it.

The factory approved method is to purchase a 2 Watt, 20,000 ohm resistor and touch it across the terminals on the microwave capacitor to discharge, doing this with a tool like pliers so you are not touching the metal tips of the resistor.

Most technicians will use pliers that have insulated handles and touch the tips to the capacitor. I am not condoning that, just letting you know.

GE Spacemaker XL1800 - Automatic Fan

Hopefully steam didn't get up into it. Apparently it was the heat, but it may be miswired or have a defect in the hood thermostat or on the controller. I always recommend using the hood fan when cooking on the stove top or in the oven but that may have been irrelevant here. I would definitely recommend calling the GE Answer Center at 1-800-626-2005 on this one. If the installation was done correctly, then an exchange may be in order. Early in the warranty, you should be very demanding!

GE SpaceMaker Microwave suddenly stops while heating

I had same problem last week. My GE JVM1650 Spacemaker stopped after a few seconds of heating. Owned 16 months, manufactured Jan 2005. It was the magnetron, which was replaced yesterday. The magnetron has a 10-year warranty, but I had to pay $161.00 for labor by a GE technician. The call-out fee was waived at my request. I don't know what that amount would have been, but I can't believe the $161.00 for what was about 1/2 hour labor once diagnosed. Good Luck!
