To resolve this error permanently, you must repair the Office 2003 installation. This resolution is intended for advanced computer users. If you are not comfortable with advanced troubleshooting, you might want to ask someone for help or contact Support. For information about how to do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/ (http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/) Repair the Office 2003 installation To repair the Office 2003 installation, use the Local Installation Source Tool. You can download the Local Installation Source Tool from the following Microsoft Office 2003 Resource Kit Web site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=10FA7AA3-695B-42C3-9045-B812BA0FED3E&displaylang=en (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=10FA7AA3-695B-42C3-9045-B812BA0FED3E&displaylang=en) After you have downloaded the tool, double-click the LISTool.exe program file on your hard disk to start the Setup program. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the process.

The Local Installation Source Tool is a wizard that helps manage your Local Installation Source (LIS) on computers that are running Microsoft Office 2003. The LIS is the group of installation files that Setup copies to a hidden folder on your computer when you install Office 2003 from a CD or from a compressed CD image on a network. The LIS Tool lets you enable or disable the LIS, and to move the MSOCache folder to a new volume.

Note If these methods do not work, the files in the \MSOCache\All Users\download code folder may not match the files on the CD that you provided. Make sure that the CD that you inserted matches the product that is being requested. For example, the product that is already installed on the computer may be Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003. However, the CD may contain files for Microsoft Office Professional Enterprise Edition 2003. If this is the case, remove the Microsoft Office product, and then install the product again from the available CD.

Error 1317.Setup cannot create the folder__C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu. Verify that the path exists in your system and that you have sufficient permissions to update it._

Follow the path in the error message above by going to start, then computer , then C: then find the folder named "ProgramData" and in that folder find another folder named "Microsoft" and in that folder find one called "Windows" and in that folder find one called "Start Menu" . You will be missing one of these folders most likely the Start Menu folder when you find the one you do not have , create a new folder with the name of the missing folder in the correct folder that it is listed in in the error message. Now try to install the program agian. If that dosent work than you may have some how deleated some folders. If you cannot install then you need to insert you operating system install disk and choose reapire or you could also try a system restore to a time when your computer was working correctly. Then try to install office agian. Also office has a installation troubleshooter that may be able to fix it for you I would try that before a system restore or repair.

Dear Sirs, I have installed the trial version of Microsoft Office over my existing Microsoft Office 2000 Premium installation. The trial version has expired and I would like to go back to my original...

Office12 = Office 2007Office11 = Office 2003Office10 = Office 2000
Office 2010 shouldn't affect 2000 at all. It will however take the .doc, .xls etc file types and associate them with 2010.So all you need to do is right click a file of each type select "Open With"and navigate to the Office10 folder and select the 2000 versions of word, excel, etc.Could also just uninstall Office 2010 from Control Panel > Programs
Comment back if you need more help.

I have MS office installed on my PC but somehow have lost MS Access. How to reload MS Access ?

Hello:
First, verify that you have the correct version of Microsoft Office. Microsoft Access was only included in the Professional version of Microsoft Office 2003.
Second, Microsoft Access is probably still on your computer, but you no longer have a shortcut to it. You can create one by following these instructions:
  1. Open a file browser by navigating to Start>Computer (Start>My Computer on XP)
  2. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 11\
    (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office 11\ on x64 systems)
  3. In this folder is a file called MSACCESS.exe. This is Microsoft Access.
  4. Right-click on the file.
  5. Hover/click on the "Send To" option.
  6. Click on the "Desktop (Create Shortcut)" option.
  7. You now have a shortcut to Access on your desktop.

I tried moving my word application to my desktop and now when I go to open it a error comes up that says that there was a problem opening word and it tells me to reinstall the program. I put in my office...

That's actually a normal problem. You don't need to reinstall Office Mac 2008. What you need to do is to put the the Microsoft Word icon from your Desktop back to Applications Folder. To create a shortcut on your Desktop, go to Applications folder, Right Click(Ctrl+Click) on Microsoft Word then choose Make Alias. Just drag the Microsoft Word Alias to your Desktop. From Desktop you will have Word as a shorcut icon without any problem. If the issue will not be resolved then you need to uninstall then reinstall Office. Here's the steps:

] > Macintosh HD\Applications
* Remove Microsoft Office 2008
] > Macintosh HD\Users\<username>\Library\Application Support\Microsoft
* remove folder called Microsoft
] > Macintosh HD\Users\<username>\Library\Caches
* remove all Microsoft related files
] > Macintosh HD\Users\<username>\Library
* remove Microsoft Folder
] > Macintosh HD\Users\<username>\Library\Preferences
* remove all the (com.microsoft.[....].plist files)
] > Macintosh HD\Users\<username>\Library\Preferences
* remove Microsoft folder
] > Macintosh HD\Library\Receipts\Remove all Office 2008.pkg files
] > Delete Microsoft Office shortcuts from Dock
] > Restart
] > Install Office 2008
> Manual Install Updates

I hope this Helps! :)

Please give me detail steps involved if you were able to successfully use this mehod to convert files....

Say you got tons of Excel sheets, PowerPoint presentations and Word documents on your computer that were written in Office XP or 2003. How do you convert all these files to the new Office 2007 format. One option is that you open all of them in the associated Office program and manually save them in the newer (docx, xlsx or pptx) format. Or follow these steps and convert all documents in one go.
Step 1: Download Migration Manager kit and extract it into a new folder – say: c:\office.
officepack.png
Step 2: Download and install the Office Pack – this step is required even if you have Microsoft Office 2007 already installed on your computer.
Step 3: Assuming that you extracted the Office Manager files in c:\office directory, go c:\office\tools, open ofc.ini using notepad and add the following line.
fldr=c:\users\labnol\documents
This refers to the folder location that holds your office files. I am pointing this to my Documents folder but it could be different on your machine.
Step 4: Open command prompt and go to c:\office\tools. There you’ll see a utility called ofc.exe – this is the Office File Converter that will convert all old Office files to the new 2007 Office document format in bulk. Run.
convertdocs.png
Immediately all old Office files in that folder (and sub-folders) will get converted to the new format and are saved in a new folder.
This utility works with Word (doc to docx), Access databases, PowerPoint (ppt to pptx), Visio diagrams, Excel (xls to xlsx) and Microsoft Project files. The conversion may however fail for password protected documents.

If the Microsoft Office — 60-day trial desktop icon is on your computer, you may have the Activation Assistant in the Microsoft Office folder to request a trial activation key online. If you can’t locate the Activation Assistant, request a trial activation key online.

How i create a data base in ms access

Hello,
Start, Programs, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Office Access 2007. Click the Office Icon in the top left corner of the Access 2007 window. Click New, locate where it says "Blank Database". In the field labeled "File Name", type the name of your new database. MS Office 2007

Hi,

First uninstall the MS Office 2007 on your system, then go to the target folder directory where you just installed the Office2007, its usually under PROGRAM FILES folder, and locate the right folder (usually named as "Microsoft Office") and DELETE manually this folder.

Second, restart your computer, then try to re-install the Office 2007 again.

I hope this procedure works.
