Question about Insignia 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System with DVD/CD/MP3 Player/VCR

Got the freeze picture 3 times last night during the BCS game on

My DISH HD gave me a locked picture on Channel 40 (Sacramento, CA area) 3 times during the BCS game last night. Had to reset the receiver and SAT connection manually. Who's problem is this? DISH HD?, Channel 40, my New Sony HD TV?  I also am playing sound to my surround system thru my Sony Tuner. The Dolby signal is showing Locked then Unlocked causing the sound to drop in and out about every 5 to 10 seconds. Also when I mute for a period of time, say to kill the commercials, it sometimes will not un-mute.  Any insight as to what is going on.  Do you need more info on the equipment i.e. model #'s etc??

How to get full picture on my tv?

First, ensure your tv is using the highest resolution possible (Usually 1080 for flat screens) by using an HDMI cable from the receiver to the television, and that you are on the correct input. Second, ensure your tv is not sizing the video by using the 'picture size' or 'aspect' or 'ratio' key on the remote that came with your tv (Not your DISH remote). Third, tune your DISH receiver (with your DISH remote) to an HD channel (for VIP model receivers, when you tune the channel to an HD channel, an opaque white 'HD' appears insude the blue box at the top of the screen). Fourth, hit the star key on the remote, while watching the screen. On the right hand side, near the top, it will cycle as you hit repeatedly the star key, the style of screen widening. Hit the key as often as you need to make the screen appear the way you want it to. The receiver will remember your setting for all HD channels. When finished with the HD channel, tune your receiver (with your DISH remote) to a SD channel (any channel in the guide that does not have the HD icon). Repeat the fourth step.

For Hopper/Joey family receivers, hit menu, settings, screen size. Follow the instructions to resize your screen to match your preference. When finished, repeat step four above on each an HD and a SD channel.

How do you change pixel? i have dish network. HD channel is perfect but when i see regular channel, picture is cut off from the bottom and top. its very irritating when you see game. i tried changing the...

You will want to keep your aspect ratio on 16x9. On your DISH Network remote press the format button on your remote it will have an asterisk (*) on it. Also, try the page up and page down buttons right of the volume. If that fails take the factory remote and try the format button there as well.

It pause temporarily at times during regular tv programming. What can the problem be?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "pause", but if you mean the picture freezes or pixellates and the sound cuts outs then it's caused by a bad signal - know as "Digital Cliff Edge" - see attached image.

If you are using an aerial, check all your cables are connected properly and that your aerial is securely mounted, pointing in the right direction and none of the elements have become detached - particularly the dipole where the co-axial cable attaches.

If you are using a dish, again check all your cables are connected properly and that your dish is securely mounted. If the bolts are loose and you can move the dish by hand, then it's possible that your dish has moved from the correct alignment. You will ideally need a signal meter to correct this although it can be done by trial and error.

You should also note that dishes are susceptible to signal-loss during bad weather, particularly strong wind, heavy rain and snow. If you are only losing picture in bad weather, there isn't much you can do apart from making sure the dish is rigidly fixed.

If your aerial/dish is OK, try replacing your fly-leads (the short section from the wall socket to the TV) and/or the cable from the aerial/dish to your TV.

Hope this helps.

Easy fix :)
Go into Account Management ([Friends] [Account Management]), de-activated and activated again.
If this does not work, then your HDD is corrupt.

NO Picture or Sound

sounds like someone rolled over on the remote. if you have cable or a dish, the tv channel must be left on a specific station at all times. no matter what channel is on the cable, the television itself must be on the correct channel number in order to receive he signal from the cable company. try hitting the last channel recall button on the tv, not the cable. otherwise try channel 3 or 4 or sometimes 60 on the tv. good luck

NOT CORRECTLY IDENTIFY SAT

The HD feed comes in on 61.5 for a majority of stations most often locals come off 119 or 110. The USA hd comes off of 61.5 transponder 19.If you press menu 611 on your dish remote and manuever the highlight to the satellite and go to 61.5 and then change the transponder to 19 you will probably have a poor signal from 0 -39. Typically this can be resolved by having the dish re-peaked but sometimes foilage may be the cause. Thanks for using Fix Ya.

My playstation 3 started freezing now wont load games or dvds

Blow out PS3 thoughly with air and make sure it can breathe. They do not do well in entertainment centers. They overheat. Which one do you have the smaller one or the bigger HD one. The 40 gig one has a different videocard that likes to overheat and freak out a lot. (If you dont have a card reader but you have a 80 gig HD then thats the "new" small one, and its junk too. Send back to Sony if you need it fixed).

NO TV PICTURE

The best way is to contact your service provider and ask them to trouble shoot guide you, there should be a way to reset or diagnose the receiver or if you prefer go back to the place you bought it and ask for a replacement, You should still have the manufacturer's warranty, check that as well.
