I am trying to install ROKU video streamer into my Sharp TV model 27KS300. Roku says to plug their red/yellow/white RCA cable into the video in ports on your TV. I do this but nothing happens. I am...

Yes these are the same yellow white and red ports that you would use to connect your DVD player. I believe this television has one port in the front and one in the back. I might be wrong but I believe video 1 is in the back and video 2 is in the front. If you have tried video 1 and video 2 making sure you have pressed the video/input button to select the proper one after connecting your Roku then you have done everything properly. Make sure to try a different RCA cable to make sure it is not the cable that is causing the problem. Also try the Roku on a different television because if it is working on a different television with the same RCA cable then you'll know that it isn't compatible with this particular television.

Emerson 42 inch television flat screen HDTV: i connected a DVI to HDMI cable to dell computer screen to television in order to display computer screen to it but the signal isn't working, how do i...

Your Dell Monitor does not have a video output. The DVI/HDMI cable needs to run from the DVI-Out of you computer tower directly to the TVs HDMI input, ideally one with a red/white analog audio input next to it, because that cable only provides a video signal. If you don't have a DVI out on your computer, perhaps your TV has a VGA input. If your computer/video card only has one monitor connector, then you can only connect the Monitor OR the TV.

Could hear the chanels good but no pictuere

1. Check the video connection of any devices plugged into the television. If you can hear sound but are seeing no picture while trying to use something like a DVD player or cable box, the problem is probably that a wire is loose somewhere. Check the yellow video cables running from the DVD player to the TV and make sure everything is plugged in firmly and where it should be. Also check the coaxial cable running from the cable box (or cable outlet) to the television and make sure that wire is also screwed in securely.

2. Check the image settings on your television and make sure everything is set properly. Certain settings like "Picture" or "Brightness," if set to one extreme, can make the picture appear completely black. This could cause you to simply hear television shows but not be able to see them. Reset all picture settings on the TV to their original factory default settings to see if that fixes the problem.

3. Try another channel. If you're watching TV and not getting a picture, the first thing you should do is check a variety of random channels to make sure it is a problem with your TV and not with your television signal. If it is a problem with the television signal it is the fault of the TV station or cable service provider and there isn't anything you can do yourself to fix it.

4. Try the DVD on another DVD player. If you're trying to play a DVD and can't see any images, make sure the disc isn't defective. Try it on another DVD player or a computer DVD drive and make sure the disc works in the first place.

5. After all the steps and it does not come on then you would need to visit a technician.

How to run laptop through tv

G'Day mate!

In order to send the picture from any computer to a TV screen, you must have a VGA input on the TV. You can't output your computer signal using s-video, HDMI, or component cables because they aren't designed for computer use. If you have a VGA connection on your TV, then you can use a standard VGA cable. If your TV doesn't have one, unfortunately you're out of luck.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. I hope I've earned a positive rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

How to set my television as a monitor for my dell laptop?

Your saying S video this is a cable with small little prongs single cable and not the red yellow white cable, I would go get the RCA cable and put it on Video mode as your tv may not have a S video connection if it does there is a S-video mode and you can use the channel up key until it says Svideo.. if not use the RED/Blck/White ones and put it on video and your are taken care off good luck!!

Connect a dvd-vcr recorder to my tb

you will need an external dvd recorder to record vcr tapes to dvd. Sometimes you will have problems with quality when you do it this way. I have transfered vcr tapes to dvd with a transfer device using the computer and got much better results. If you need the name of the transfer device just get back with me and I will get it for you.

Input button says there is a setting for computer but manual does not give instructions

there are a number of methods that will allow you to make the connection. Many computers have incorporated composite (RCA) or S-Video (TV-Out) output that will either mirror or, better yet, extend your desktop beyond the monitor. For desktop systems, there are numerous AGP video cards available that offer a variety of video outputs. For example, ATI's Radeon X1950 PRO video card includes composite, s-video, and component video connections for analog signals. Of course, it all depends on what inputs your television can accept. If it has multiple input ports, remember that there is a hierarchy in terms of signal quality among the three typical types of connections, which, from lowest to highest, is composite, S-Video, then component video. So opt for the highest quality connection supported by both devices. Many older or more basic televisions may only have a coaxial cable connection. In this case, there are video cards with coax outputs and scan converters that will pass the signal through a coaxial cable directly to your television. Oh, and remember that you'll also need to connect your sound card's LINE-OUT connector to the TV for sound.
The tricky part may be finding the right cables to go from the computer to the TV, since there are several types of RCA (1 or multi-port) and S-Video (4-pin and 7-pin) connectors. One product I found, the Pro S-Video to 3 RCA cable allows you to connect your desktop or laptop computer's S-Video to your TV. These adapters are compatible with both S-video 4-pin and 7-pin receptacles and also connect your PC's stereo audio output to the TV.
But don't run out and buy any special video cards or cables yet... There are certain limitations of using older CRT televisions as computer displays that can easily render the advantages of size and affordability almost completely negligible. Perhaps the greatest constraint is the relatively low resolution of standard, tube-based televisions. Because of their design to accept NTSC (North American), PAL (European), or SECAM signals, good old-fashioned analog television sets generally cannot display resolutions greater than 640x480. That was barely adequate for a 14-inch monitor ten years ago, so just imagine how it might look on a 32-inch TV screen. Have you ever tried to read those fuzzy disclaimers at the end of a TV commercial? Viewing your computer's video signal through a CRT television will not yield the detail and clarity that you would normally expect, although for games and video playback it can produce acceptable results.

Connect laptop to RCA - F25305

What kind of computer do you have? There wuold have to be a video out or SVHS plug out from your computer. And a video or SVHS input to your TV. If both are physically available then there should be a computer configuration so your laptop can output to your TV.

S-Video Connection between Laptop and TV only blurry when laptop plugged in

You may have a combination problem of a bad shield in your S-Video cable and a floating ground on your laptop that doesn't interfere when operating from batteries.

I would first replace the cable and if the problem is still present, you may need a new adaptor for your laptop.
The bars/lines you describe come from a slight difference in the synchronization of the TV signal and 60 cycle AC being in the wrong place. That small difference in frequency is causing your video to be modulated.
Before modern stuff, this used to only case 'hum' in the audio.

Vertical line running through video channels 1-4

Interchange the video channels 1-4 and 5-7. Now check white vertical line in video port 5-7. Suppose you get problem remove cable television cable from tv during another two port running. These type problem occurs only when RF disturbance from cable television or video ochannel ports cable wire ground problem. I found there is no problem in tv. External source only the problem. I hope above details give you the better solution.
